343i said that a lot of old Halo weapons will return, does this include the Sentinel Beam?
Halo 4 takes place on Requiem, a Forerunner planet, full of Forerunner artifacts and structures. The Sentinel Beam is a Forerunner weapon, so it would make sense to return. Also, in the recent Halo 4 ViDoc, Sentinels were shown flying around. Sentinels are now confirmed to be in Halo 4. Does that mean the Sentinel Beam will return?
It will be in. Since Sentinels are in (HappyFace), Sentinel Beams have to be in. Will you be able to pick it up, I would highly assume so, but there’s always that small chance.
> God, I hope not. That was the most useless, and yet extremely irritating weapon in Halo.
CE’s Campaign Version: Annoying. Legendary’s was powerful.
Halo 2’s Campaign Version: Sucked. Annoying.
Halo 2’s Multiplayer Version: Sucked.
Halo 3’s Campaign Version: Annoying. Kinda tough on Legendary.
Halo 3’s Multiplayer Version: One of the most powerful weapons in the game.
if the Sentinel Beam is back (and I highly assume so), it has to be like CE’s Campaign Version, and Halo 3’s Multiplayer Version.
Unfortunately, Halo 4’s weapon sandbox has already been completely revealed (seen here, compiled by Der Flatulator6. The weapons sandbox seen in this spreadsheet is compiled off of all the weapons seen in the PAX build, which was confirmed by Frankie to include all of the multiplayer sandbox), however this only accounts for the multiplayer weapons. I wouldn’t rule out the Sentinel Beam making a return in campaign or in Spartan Ops, but I certainly wouldn’t count on it.

I thought it just showed all the new weapons, 343i said that plenty of old favorites would return.

That list doesn’t have the concussion rifle something that we know is in. Also says that the needler is a loadout weapon… is there something I missed?

> You’re right, although the Concussion Rifle can be seen in many PAX gameplay videos. I’ll let Der Flatulator know to update the list.
Can I have a link to where frankie said that the PAX build had all weapons.

Well that was the first Halo game, you couldn’t do a lot that we can do now. It’s forgiven.

Agreed as the game evolves more things are possible. Its true that some vehicles and weapons are removed from the game, but it usually has some story element supporting it (Brute armory in reach) or it didn’t have enough impact on any story element (spectre). If it ruins gameplay it is usually changed into something similar like the various UNSC pistols.
The sentinel beam has story elements supporting that it should be in the game, so it would be strange for 343i to remove it. However there are two other possibilities, sentinels now use Promethean weapons, could easily be supported by them being “Upgraded” to work alongside the prometheans. Or sentinels wont ever attack us or be in a position to die near us, makes sense Prometheans clearly seem to be the main protectors of this shield world.
I still think it will be in campaign and also in custom games but I don’t think it would make regular appearances in MP.
