I personally think that all Ranks should be reset and the playlists modified for H3 especially since there will be a lot of players playing this game for the first time. I think they should also have it on Games for Gold considering I’ve gone through 5 discs since it’s release.

I think that depends on the player base, if a few thousand still play a thought to keep the ranks as they are, but considering, like myself and I can presume many others who look for nostalgia working up through the likes of major, brigadier, general, 1 to 50 like we did, all those years ago. It will be way worth paying the price for a new/old game.

If I remember I did start buying digitally around 2013 so there’s a good chance I would have bought a copy online. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Yes that would be annoying, Just like in Halo5 with silly seasons. Although it wouldn’t be a first, I remember the reset of H2 ranks, people were not happy. But, another argument, people don’t play on 50’s which stagnates the populous. Starting again would make this re-release keep the crowd a little longer. Either way, people will grumble or not play.
If this was an actual concept I think the best way to propose it to players would be an optional reset, not a global forced one. You have the option to reset your rank, but you don’t have to. That said, this would take coding work for 343 which I doubt they intend to do on Halo 3 OG.
Yeah I agree. I can’t imagine 343 will designate anyone with that task. So that being said, I’m guessing we will get H3 on Xbox One just as I left it back in 2011… Apart of the Brigadier brigade.

It seems to me, I know I’ve felt it in the past with previous Halo games. That resetting levels is a sore issue. Do you think this has a direct correlation with the drop in player numbers over Live in Halo 5 and the seasons compared to Halo 3 with the quest for 50.
Well I personally don’t think that would happen. If anything, they might consolidate the playlists like they where supposed to a few years ago
They shouldn’t. Too much time is invested in most peoples ranks. I use a different tag now though and im kinda excited about starting over myself

Unless I’m mistaken it seems that the majority of the stats for Halo 3 has disappeared from Halo Waypoint. So I’m guessing they are just visible in game. Do we know how many people still play on the 360?

No, there’s no correlation. The resetting level’s thing hasn’t been a BIG deal since the old Halo 2 Matchmaking days. Bungie reset the ranks of everyone at least a few times because there was such an issue with modders/cheaters. It eventually got to a point where they stopped trying because they really couldn’t do anything.
I won’t lie though, I’ve never been a fan of the whole “seasons” thing with the ranked playlists in Halo. I don’t want to have to go back every season and try to re-earn my rank again.
Absolutely not. I earned every 50 rightfully so and achieved my 5 star rank. Resetting them would make me completely aggravated along with every other halo player who spent the time to achieve a rank they were happy with. You can fix my modded 100+k experience and give me my 6000 back, but that’s it.
With all due respect OP, screw the whole rank reset idea. Are we seriously going to erase TEN YEARS of gameplay history, just so some newcomers don’t feel intimidated?!?!?!? I put in a lot of time getting 50s and my 5 star, and while its great that some new people will get to try for theirs, it doesn’t mean all the work myself and others have put into this game should just vanish.
Thankfully, your idea will never happen. Reach has already been made BC and there were no rank resets. Reach has had a higher population than h3 for a few years now, so if it didn’t happen for Reach, it won’t happen now.
Now, I am much more open to a playlist modification IF they do it right. Again though, this has next to no chance of happening. The Halo games have been some of the highest voted games for BC and it took them 2 years to even do that. I’ve asked on here for years for 343 to at least give Halo 3 some decent stat tracking and have gotten nothing. They clearly want to spend as little time on the past titles as possible. While I think making the old games BC is awesome, I also believe it is basically a PR move to ward off criticism about no H3A.

Can’t speak to whether or not that will actually happen, but I fail to see why it would be a good thing. Resetting everyone’s rank would throw everyone’s past work down the tubes. Why would you want this for yourself much less anyone else? If a new player doesn’t want to play against more skilled players than they should adjust their search preferences accordingly. I personally wouldn’t want my old Halo 3 rank reset. Why bother ranking up at all if it will just get reset at some point in the future?
