by any chance be used with other pieces of armor? or it is mandatory to be used along with the recruit armor?
I believe it is only for Recruit.
Only on Recruit. All skins count as their own armor set, and CANNOT be used on anything else.
All armor skins are exclusive to that specific set of armor.
I was informed on the 343i community forum that armor skins would be interchangeable, but there seems to be a consensus here…

You can mix armor perms that have different skins. Maybe that was what they meant?
Hopefully it stands out at least, since Recruit isn’t even close to exclusive.
