I don’t know about you guys but I think the music in Halo 4 is going to be epic. I believe that the music can make or break a game. Music brings the player into the world that the publishers are trying to create.
Its a one way trip through a roller-coaster of emotions. The music pretty much tells the story. A perfect example of this is Halo 3 ODST. When you are the rookie at night while it was raining. I was so impressed with the music that I had to set my controller down and listen to it for a long time.
I hope that Neil Davidge can bring me into a game like Marty did!
I’m slightly sceptical about the music at the moment: the only standout piece has been the concept art trailer score. That was fantastic. The rest has just been pretty generic music trying to sound epic but not really being very memorable.
Fingers crossed Davidge and the other guy can deliver for the final game.
I couldn’t agree more. To me that is one of the things Reach lacked. I love Marty’s soundtracks, but to me the Reach soundtrack didn’t sound like his heart was in it. This new guy seems like he really gets it. Just based off the one sample we have had so far (minus any background in the ViDoc) you can tell it was written by a fan.
i cant see the music sucking in halo 4 because of where the game is set because the music/sounds that have always impressed me are the ones surrounding the forerunner environments.

How?
Massive Attack sucks. Neil Davidge(Halo 4’s composer) is known for working with Massive Attack, therefor it is known that his music sucks. So if Massive Attack sucks, and Neil sucks, then Halo 4’s music is going to suck. Pretty straight forward.
I will not be listening to a single second of Halo 4’s music.

Man, its a shame you think that way and I am not here to try to change your mind. Its your loss.

Massive Attack is totally a different story from Halo 4. That’s like saying I didn’t like Bungie’s Marathon trilogy therefore I don’t like the Halo trilogy.
Not trying to change your mind. Just saying… you’re argument is invalid. You could’ve at least said that you don’t like the electronics or the dynamics of his piece instead of basing you judgment on a previous piece that is completely irrelevant from Halo.
Nope, the music alone won’t keep me in a horrible game, but good music can make a game so much better and make me revisit it from time to time, like ODST. It had in my opinion by far the best OST, I can spend hours walking around the streets of new Mombasa, just looking at the views and enjoying the music. It’s not just a game with nice music, it’s an experience…
