I’m just wondering if the MA5K will ever make the jump from page to screen, I mean I think it would be a nice addition.
Look at how many covenant carbines are featured in the halo games:
Type-25 Carbine - A single-handed Covenant projectile weapon. Featured in Halo 3 and Halo: Reach. Better known as the Brute Spiker.
Type-33 Carbine - A one-handed Needler. Featured in all Halo installments.
Type-51 Carbine - A two-handed Covenant projectile weapon. Featured in Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4. Better known as the Covenant Carbine.
Type-25 Plasma Rifle - Handheld plasma-operated weapon typically wielded by Sangheili. Compact compared to the Type-55 Storm Rifle. Better known as the plasma rifle.
Type-25 Brute Plasma Rifle - Variant of the Type-25 Directed Energy Rifle wielded exclusively by Jiralhanae, with superior rate of fire. Featured in Halo 2 and Halo 3: ODST.
While the only UNSC carbine featured in any game is apparently the ARC-920/railgun.
It is a possibility, and It would be cool to have one in a game… The only problem I see including it in a game is that there are already a lot of weapons in the games that fill its purposes and are more powerful. It is said to be a lighter, smaller weapon than the bigger assault rifles in the games (MA5B, MA5C, MA5D, MA37), and that probably means it is less powerful than those guns as well. If one wanted to use a lighter weapon with increased power and shorter range, they would simply use the smg. This gun sounds like an awkward mix of the two (assault rifle and smg). Don’t get me wrong though, I would love to see it in a game. I just don’t know that it would fit with gameplay (from a developers POV at least).

perhaps it could be a Campaign/ Spartan Ops/ Firefight exclusive weapon?

Carbine is a term used quite lightly and often incorrectly in Halo among a lot of other terminology. The plasma rifle has no barrels to need rifling and the T51 carbine, much larger than the plasma rifle, is inaccurate as carbines are traditionally rifles shortened from a standard variant. None of the aforementioned weapons are true carbines and quite a few have never been referred to as such. Additionally, no game has ever featured all of those weapons all at the same time.
With gameplay, you have to wonder what niche this weapon needs to fill. It’s a shortened MA5 with an intermediate rifle round with a high rate-of-fire and a poor effective range. The MA5K is essentially a bridge between the full-sized MA5C/D and the M7 submachine gun. There’s little need to have a whole new weapon when you can simply use a round with better penetration in the M7. Besides, the MA5 rifle already has good damage and rate of fire. There’s no need, unlike in a story, for a small weapon to better navigate tight spaces.
Wow. Thanks for all your responses and you all make valid points, especially for it being in a new ODST title or an exclusive weapon in campaign/sparton ops or firefight. I think it would definitely work for a new ODST title, granted I just want a new ODST title lol. Truth be told the reason I want it added to a game is that I want a Halo game about spartan-IIIs/Headhunters equipped with SPI armour and the MA5K.

That would be an awesome game. We could play as S-III’s wearing the SPI armor with the shielding (The version from Headhunters). Would be awesome to have a permanent stealthing/cloaking as a game mechanic to make up for having weaker shields.

Hmmmm I didn’t think about that but it makes perfect sense!

That begs the question on if there will be another ODST game, what with the SIV’s taking a fair chunk of what appeared to be the ODST’s operational remit.

There are still quite a few ODST’s around. There even some on the infinity, And we don’t know what happened to Buck’s squad yet.
