Will the IsoDidact ever return?

The Forerunner trilogy are my favourite Halo books to be written and they introduced me to some of my favourite characters. What do you guys think will happen with the IsoDidact and Chant to Green? Do you think they’ll ever return the galaxy? Also do you think Guilty Spark now revived as Chakas will show up in new fiction soon?

I don’t know. 343i keeps foreshadowing and hinting towards stuff such as the Flood/Precursor’s return and IsoDidact coming back but then they keep pushing out campaigns like Halo 5 that make previous material irrelevant. I really hope they eventually get to this stuff. I’m afraid we might have to wait till the next set of games until we hear more about these characters unless they release games focused only on campaign like Halo 3: ODST.

It’s possible that he could return someday. Perhaps he placed himself into a Cryptum after the surviving Forerunner left the galaxy? The Ur-Didact placed himself in a Cryptum after losing a political argument, I’m sure being responsible for activating the weapon that killed trillions would warrant some self-imposed Cryptum exile as well. If he did this then he could return in fighting condition, just as the Ur-Didact did on Requiem. If he didn’t go into Exile and instead chose to live a full life, then his return could be that of an extremely old man. I sort of liken his return to that of Leonard Nimoy’s character in Atlantis: The Lost Empire. The old wise leader of what remains of the once mighty Forerunner ecumene. It would be interesting if, like Nimoy’s character, he feels that the Forerunner should remain neutral and hidden from the rest of the galaxy, but his children feel like it’s time they return to the galactic community lest they go extinct.

I think it would be cool to see him come back either in the novels or games as a counter to Cortana, as he was accidentally awakened from his Cryptum by a human and has seen what she and the other Created have done with the Forerunner technology left over from their reign over the galaxy. He could become an ally to both the UNSC and Swords of Sanghelios, seeking to help both bear the Mantle of Responsibility together, instead of a single species ruling. Plus I think it would be cool to see a reunion between the Isodidact and 343 Guilty Spark (assuming he is still alive), and how they interact after 100,000 years apart.

We know there are Forerunners alive at Bastion, they could be alive
