Will the Infinity be destroyed in Halo 5?

(Spoilers for Halo escalation )

In Halo 4 we were introduced to the UNSC Infinity. It’s the UNSC’s biggest warship and it’s pretty awesome. In Halo 4 and in Halo: Escalation we’ve the Infinity take some hits, especially in escalation with the glassing beam. From what we’ve seen from the MCC trailer with the Arby it seems that something big is going to happen (Probably Didact related with the 6 composers and the halo rings) (Or even the flood returning from the Spirit of fire) we don’t know. But something really bad is probably going to happen and we know the infinity is going to be involved. So what do you guys think? Will the massive warship be destroyed? Should is be destroyed? What do you guys think?

EDIT: If the infinity is destroyed what would happen to all the spartan IV’s stationed there.

Forgive me for being evil but I hope so, it will be interesting to see how Humanity copes after losing one of it’s greatest assets although how the multiplayer would remain canon without the Infinity does make me doubt it.

I think it should, it will bring back a darker element that was in Halo 3 with major characters dying. Reach also when the ship gets blown up in front of you, it gives you a true feel of peril and what is a stake.

Hmmm, Halo 5 is going to be dark enough, I don’t think it will be destroyed in this game, but the next perhaps, if it is at all.

Honestly I feel like it needs a moment where it actually seems as amazing as its hype. It didn’t get enough showcasing at the start of spartan ops, and the only other ‘awesome’ thing it did was poke a hole in the didact’s ship after its shields were down and it just healed back up anyway.

Instead the ship gets boarded, invaded, and damage fairly often, I don’t think it being destroyed will have that much impact. Sure, a lot of that happens to the ships in star trek, but those shows also go on much longer, so when/if they finally are destroyed there’s impact.

I hope they wait a few games to destroy it, you know, give some weight to its loss.

Hopefully it will, and drag H4 and Reach along to the closest sun and burn to death; but hey thats just my opinion.

If there’s any fate that I believe Infinity deserves, it’s bring overrun by Flood and turned into a Gravemind.

But I will say that 5 is one game too early for that to happen.

Infinity is an overrated, poorly designed ship that really serves no purpose other than inflating the UNSC’s ego.
Humanity is being lured into a highly false sense of confidence and security because of one ship. Infinity needs to go.

I think it’ll be damaged in Halo 5, but I don’t think it will be destroyed, well not until a later installment of coarse.

I do not think it shall be destroyed in Halo 5 but maybe in the next one.

As the OP mentioned probably something big shall happen in the next few installments of the series. In my opinion Halo 5 will explain what is that all life threatening event and in the end Halo 5 will end with a kind of a cliffhanger as the event is closing to happen.

As the Arbiter said it effect all our lives which means humans, shangheili, jiralhane etc.

I would like to see a huge battle with the all the species fighting alongside each other. A New Covenant with all the previous Covenant species and the UNSC. A battle fought on surface and space. And this way if the Infinity is destroyed the Spartan-IVs will not be affected.

In Halo Escalation we are informed about the Flood aboard the Spirit of Fire and about the Didact new plan to eradicate mankind. If the Didact succeeds with his plan all of the other species might be a possible next target. I know that the Didact hates only humanity but what about the species allied or depending on the humans. This is just an idea but I would really like to see something like this in the future.

Probably the infinity will become an huge flood base for the gravemind, with a mission on it where you have to fight infected spartans and other creepier flood forms… oh wait, this is already happened!

In the Halo 5 Trailer, the Cost, at 21 seconds in, the UNSC Infinity can be seen, indicating its playing a prominent part in Halo 5. However, at least 2 HUGE holes, with fire and smoke streaming from them, can be see, indicating the the Infinity was in a massive battle with a ship or ships powerful enough to take down its shields, which I remind you, were strong enough to crash through an entire CCS- class battle-cruiser with ease.

No, I do not think the Infinity will be destroyed. It provides too much of a contrast between Human and Forerunner Tech. Like that moment in Halo 4, when the most advanced ship in the entire fleet, UNSC Infinity, augmented with Forerunner engines and shields, was able to blow a tiny hole in the Mantle’s Approach for about 10 seconds with its most powerful weapon, the Magnetic Accelerator Cannon (which was fired 2 at a time). Without the Infinity, it would become to easy to think that humanity is very close to the Forerunner’s tech level. With Infinity, that distance becomes measurable, and frightening.

UNSC Infinity is not any of that. The hodgepodge look of Infinity is because of the massive amounts of Forerunner technology found at Onyx/Trevelyan. And have you forgotten? The UNSC has jack-squat in the way of ships now. The only remaining ships were a handful of frigates and cruisers not present at Earth during Halo 3. The biggest task force that Hood could scrape up for their final hope-mission was about 50 Longswords and 3 Frigates. Infinity is a wall that humanity can hide behind, so that it can rebuild. And until the Didact returned, Infinity did provide ultimate security for humanity. Admiral Parangosky herself of CINCONI said that “Unless the Forerunners decided to return from the dead, there isn’t anything left they (the Covenant) have to throw at us.” (Thursday War).

Make no mistake. Humanity is still weak, and the only reason they are dominating the battlefield so well is that the Covenant fell apart so badly. The Elites don’t have any Huragok to repair their ships, and they have to learn to farm, and build ships, and basically rewrite their entire culture, from a Medieval- style warrior centered society to an organized and balanced department of supply and demand. Both the Arbiter and Jul M’dama are suffering from this. Infinity is mainly an appearance of strength, a ruse to fool the other races that humanity has not suffered at all from the Human- Covenant War, a ruse that has apparently fooled even you.

They one thing that can take out Infinity, is another Infinity; or super carrier I suppose. But even so, Infinity is no easy fish to sink. It will take some, persuasions of fate and circumstance to sink Infinity.

I doubt it.
They spent so much time building it to just be destroyed in the next game?
We barely saw what it is capable of in Halo 4.

I hope it gets destroyed mercilessly by a Forerunner Ship, maybe by that Construct we’ve seen. To show how puny the human race still is. Humanity is getting too cocky with all their shinny new Spartan IV’s and all.

I hope not. It seems a ship is destroyed in practically every game, except for Halo 4.
It’s so cliched at this point. Almost as much as destroying Forerunner installations to destroy the enemy.

I want it to be disabled, not destroyed. Too many of the main ships in Halo games get destroyed during their respective game (Pillar of Autumn, In Amber Clad, Forward Unto Dawn). My hope is that the Infinity will sustain massive damage that renders it stationary and useless in combat, so that the humans have to improvise a solution that doesn’t involve their big honking warship. But then I want the Infinity to be repaired, that ship and crew is too good to not be in future Halo media.

That already happened in Halo 4.
