Ok so looks like my rank reset and from what I’ve read it seems expected behavior. I can accept it this time but my question is: Will my rank reset for all playlists again???! And is it true that the ranks will reset every month?!!
I need to know because if 343 keeps resetting my rank then Im done with halo and I will not play a game that makes all my hours and hard work into getting to a certain rank go to waste. Its not logical that the ranks were reset to begin with. I wonder what idiot project manager thought this was such a great idea. Bungie never did this in the history of all halo’s, at least not on a regular basis.

I have to strongly disagree. I’m obviously not the only person in the community with kids, bills, responsibilities and drains on my free time. According to 343 it’s exciting and challenging to hit reset and start over but climbing the ladder in matchmaking is already a challenge. Sure I could hit Onyx, get reset and place there again but there’s no guarantee. Most players progress in skill and ability gradually. From what I’ve seen so far the qualifying matches are pretty inconsistent. Most competitive players get pissed when they lose a rank and to have it happen with your hands tied repetitively is discouraging. No I don’t see what was so wrong with everyone starting at 0 and working there way up. That’s what competitive Halo used to be. But when I hit a rank that I strive to get to, I want to keep it. I don’t think the idea of seasons is terrible but IT SHOULD be its OWN set of playlists separate from the rest of Arena. If I wanted to “prestige” I’d play COD. Obviously COD sucks so why is Halo taking cues from it?!?!

Can anyone tell me the logic in this? No other video game that I know of is dumb enough to do this. Im in progress of uninstalling now.

It’s really sad.just stick with old halos.this game is a joke a absolute embarrassment to the halo community.

Permanent ranks create the phenomenon of rank-lock. People get rank-locked and quit the game because there’s no sense of progress. Or worse, they start a new account, effectively re-setting their ranks themselves, and basically just playing below their weight for months on end and screwing up the experience for people of legitimately low rank. There is also the perennial issue of permanent ranks driving people to cheat or boost or use quitting as a tool to beat the system. All of these things are pointless in a system which re-sets periodically. Neither system is good, but I have to say that I think that seasonal re-sets are the lesser of evils.
