Will the 'Halo Theme' return in Halo 4?

Hi, I was wondering if the Halo Theme will be returning in Halo 4? If it does return will it be the full song? or just parts of it, like only the monk chant? I hope the ENTIRE full song returns in Halo 4, including the instrumental part. Halo 4’s music is composed by Neil Davige, but the Halo Theme was composed by Marty O’ Donnel. Even though Marty will not be making Halo 4 music, will at least the Halo Theme song return? Even though Halo 4 is part of a new trilogy, Halo just won’t be Halo without the Theme, it just makes the game feel so much more magical. Please reply

This is the Halo Theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-NGYDeXcKM&feature=plcp

Of course it will, although it will be modified for the new Trilogy.

I"m pretty sure they’re going to have it because it just wouldn’t be Halo without it.

Who knows? I’m pretty sure it was confirmed that the monk chant is in. But the theme itself is still in the air.

It could be heard in the Reveal Trailer and I believe somewhere in the First Look video, so it will most likely be in the game (at least the opening monks).

> Of course it will, although it will be modified for the new Trilogy.

I hope so, but Neil Davige (The new composer) said that he doesn’t want to touch Marty’s work.

Probably, but it won’t be as prominent as in previous games, as they want to make the new trilogy feel separate from the past games in its own right, with a different feel and different tone to the story, and the music will reflect that.

Yeah, I am afraid it won’t be in the game anymore. I don’t think the Warthog Run soundtrack will return either. Would be sad.

The theme you are talking about is so iconic for Halo. There is the monk chant, then the Warthog Run, women african chant and the Monk Chant again.

The Monk Chant was in the First Reveal Trailer of Halo 4 where the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn is drawn inside Requiem.

Yeah, The monk chant is the first part of the theme song, But I am talking about the whole thing, including the orchestra and the instruments, like the actual tune (warthog run). I hope that returns, even if the new trilogy is going in a new direction, it still needs to feel the way Halo feels, and keeping the theme song is vital to the Halo feel.

If they dont’ have at least a couple of the original songs, it would be like trying to watch Star Wars with Bladerunner music. It just wouldn’t feel right.

I absolutely agree.

True, but Halo Reach did not feature the Halo theme, neither did ODST.

It was “featured” in Halo Reach. The soundtrack The Battle Begins is a remake of the original Halo Theme.

Do you mean this song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCuG-rFZR1U

That song sounds nothing like the halo theme, unless you are talking about the vocals at the beginning of the song, they sound vaguely like the monks chanting, but it doesn’t sound like the actual Halo theme, with all the instruments and the tune. I think you are mistaken.

Hmm, if you play it faster the chant sounds very similar to the original Halo theme. I am not sure if I am mistaken or if you haven’t noticed that. The Warthog Run track appears in Tip of the Spear but it’s not as good as the original.

ODST?

Warthog Run vaguely sounds like tip of the spear. Tip of the Spear took insperation from Warthog Run, but it is not quite a remake.

Okay … Let’s hope we can hear some original-inspired tracks in H4. The Halo 4 soundtrack appearing at the beginning of the campaign sounds pretty similar to H3 soundtrack ‘Arrival - Luck’, however.

Very true, I agree with you there. Your talking about the part in the campaign demo when Master Chief walks off and says “Same place we are” right?

Uhmm, I haven’t talked about that scene. I just watched your scene again. Yeah, there is some resemblance to it. You’re right.
