Hi, I was wondering if the Halo Theme will be returning in Halo 4? If it does return will it be the full song? or just parts of it, like only the monk chant? I hope the ENTIRE full song returns in Halo 4, including the instrumental part. Halo 4’s music is composed by Neil Davige, but the Halo Theme was composed by Marty O’ Donnel. Even though Marty will not be making Halo 4 music, will at least the Halo Theme song return? Even though Halo 4 is part of a new trilogy, Halo just won’t be Halo without the Theme, it just makes the game feel so much more magical. Please reply

He was just using that as an example. He didn’t mean the original theme.

Some people don’t because they say it was in Reach and ODST. I don’t remember hearing the Halo Theme anywhere in those games

Well i’d assume people who participate on a Halo website would know what the original theme was, haha
Hopefully a 343i member can answer the question or give us a hint.
This would’ve been a great question for someone to ask at a Q and A during one of the event panels. Don’t know why it hasn’t been asked.
I’m almost positive that 343i stated that it would not be in the game, as they were trying to take the series in a new direction with the Reclaimer Trilogy, and so they deemed it necessary to create a new theme for the new games.
If you ask me, it would be like replacing the Star Wars theme during the opening crawl of the prequels in order to show that they are distinct from the original trilogy . . IMO, it’s just stupid.
as far as themes go the superman theme isnt being used in the new superman movie they’re making
Didn’t the media playtesters point out that the theme returned, but was different? I could be wrong, I don’t have a source.

I actually posted this question a couple of days ago in the “Ask a question for the Halo Bulletin” thread in the General Discussion forums. BS Angel hinted in last week’s bulletin that next week’s will be about the music of Halo 4, so maybe (hopefully) this question will be answered!
I’ve always associated Master Chief with that theme. I thought it was fitting in Reach and ODST that the theme wasn’t there fully, but bits and pieces were put into the compositions. No Master Chief, no Halo theme. Makes sense.
But now we’re getting the Chief’s triumphant return to the series. I think they NEED to bring his theme back with him. I hope at least 1 track features a full length version if nothing else.

A part of the song “Tip of the Spear” sounds like the Halo theme.
It will be returning. But it will probably be changed (Like in all Halos)
If it does return I think it will be altered, or hinted at in one of the songs, like in reach or odst, I think if it is in the game, it could be 343s version of ‘siege of madrigal’ so you can only hear it in a certain spot, or maybe you could only hear the chanting in a certain spot, that would be cool, guess we’ll find out soon enough.
No, it is not in the game. The new track will be completely new, but many things will be inspired by the original while new things are introduced, such as use of computer-generated-sounds and dubstep techniques being used, while also having things similar to the monk chant. It wouldn’t have the old Halo theme, but from the 6 or 7 minutes of the music that I’ve heard, the music is AWESOME.
Even if there is a bit of the old theme, it will barely be there.

I really hope that it doesn’t return. Don’t get me wrong, the halo theme is epic, it’s a classic. But I want new epic halo themes, When Halo 10 is about to be released I want to think, “I hope we get to hear some of the Halo 4 theme music in this one”. Thats why I don’t want remakes of maps in Halo 4 multiplayer. New trilogy, new music, new maps, new awesomeness.
If we keep going back to things, being too sentimental, we don’t get new great things. I won’t mind if it does return but I hope it doesn’t. And if we find ourself missing the Halo theme we can always go back and play Halo 1-3 singleplayer.
