I like how the covies spoke english and were funny can that return ?
I like it when they say funny things instead of just gibberish.

I’m pretty sure they spoke English in the campaign demo we saw. It was a little unclear, but I’m fairly certain they speak our language again.

Of course they will. Why would they revert back to not speaking English?
Also, it was confirmed in the campaign trailer during E3 that Covenant speaks English when the Elite is yelling at the grunts (just before they see Chief), and when the grunt yells “DEMON!” or whatever when he sees Master Chief.

Although it DOES sound like the Jackals occasionally say “What the faaaack?”
It sounded like the Grunt yelled “Demon! Demon!” back in the E3 demo
I hope they do. I miss that slight comical nature Halo had. Reach took that out, not even the army trooper guys said anything funny not even with the IWHBYD skull on; and it just felt like another generic fps.

I know they will speak English but I hope the covenant does not. I want to hunt aliens down with merciless efficiency, I don’t want to empathise with them and LOL at their funny remarks: “Aw that little grunt just said something cute” - NO! That to me as a gamer ruins MY immersion. 343 have stated they want to make a more mature Halo this time around. I had a hard time adjusting to Halo 2’s campaign because of it (being able to understand them) I know its in the books that there is some form of translation software that made them comprehensible…
But Reach for me was a breath of fresh air because they spoke in alien tongue and I renewed my desire to want to smite the covenant. I fail to see why you have an enemy you are tasked to kill, when you have the ability to think they are funny? Its almost oxymoronic in nature and that is a deal breaker for me, it makes no sense to my immersion when I am supposed to be a hero for humanity and be a super bad–Yoink- soldier. And please, NO ARBITER game play either.
Maybe have an option where players can chose to hear them speak in alien tongue or to understand them.

But not canonically, Elites can speak several human languages if they learned how.
If only the Hunters would talk to us instead of destroying us.
I hope so, in halo 2 it was so funny when a grunt would say “Spoiler”, well it was to me anyway.
