Will the Forerunners be an ally?

Big topic, will Forerunners be our allies? I personally believe so, and I hope the Didact is the commander of the Forerunner military. I think that the Precursors, we are deemed unworthy of the Mantle, so we are marked for extinction. The Forerunner will return and try to stop the Precursor along with us. What do you think?

All signs point to yes on that. Taking the human-Forerunner War out of context and Guilty Spark’s rant doesn’t make our title of Reclaimer go away and all evidence points to their role as guardians to US, not adversaries.

Agreed. That’d be so cool too.

Here’s how I picture it:

The Master Builder (a racist jerk who cares only for his own power) will return and rally Covenant remnants to himself by claiming to be one of their gods (an easy task; he is a Forerunner, anyway). Along with his Forerunner Builder forces, he’ll attempt to reassert Forerunner dominance in the galaxy.

The Precursors will begin their plan to test humanity with a new threat, possibly Flood. However, since we will not be fighting Flood in this game, that will be a plot for the next 2 games.

The Didact, one of the only true followers of the Mantle, will see it as his duty to oppose the Precursors, which means siding with humanity. He will lead survivong Warrior-Servants against the Builders.

The Arbiter will show up at some point and join you in a three-pronged alliance with you, the Elites, and the Warrior-Servants, and epicness will ensue.

I can also guess at the MacGuffin which they will be fighting for: In Primordium, Spoiler Spoiler Biiiiiig Spoiler!!! The Librarian is confirmed to be alive and out there somewhere. She’ll turn out to be the key in… whatever we’ll be doing. Spoiler Is Done

if not the forerunners then the precursors?

i hope they reveal the enemy at e3

I think it is going to be an uneasy alliance. It may go like this:

The Precursors have returned out of no were and a mysterius beacon is set off at Requium were some surviving Forerunners are being slaughtered by the Precursors (who have come back for revenge for their loss in the Forerunner-Precursor War). Humanity and Forerunners on other shield-worlds and the Covenant pick up the beacon and travel to Requium.
When they get their they at first engage in conflict, but upon realising the Forerunner’s ancient foe is back for vengaence, the two factions team up, while the Covenant seeks to use this as an opportunity to get their ‘creators’ to join the armor.
The Covenant fails at this and ends up cought in the middle of the 2 waring factions, that being the Precursors vs. Forerunner-Human armies. And once the war is finally over in Halo 6, Forerunners will push aside their past war with Humanity and the 2 species will be allies.

fixed^^ the whole point of the “ancient unknown threat” is to make you want the game more so you can figure out what it is. Keep it a secret!

Umm, no, please no.

well i want to some basic things because i want to know what i am paying 60 dollars for not to much information just a few small details. Besides knowing the enemy will not ruin the entire story imo

why does everyone want it to be a secret?

They could throw us a red herring.

343: Hey, you get to fight Forerunners in Halo 4!

Us: Sweet!!!

Playing Campaign.Precursor monsters show up halfway through

We knew we’d be fighting aliens in CE, but we never expected the Flood. That turned out fine.

I’m pretty sure the new enemies are going to be Forerunners.

Kind of, I bet they might be hostile at first and then we have to prove ourselves, or at least convince them we are not the enemy, then they’ll help us. Classic theme used very often, even in Halo (343 guilty spark, the arbiter).

I highly doubt it. They made Greg Bear spend two books writing about how stratified Forerunner society was and now you expect this new enemy that’s supposed to have many different classes not to be the Forerunners?

In the latest article that featured an interview with Josh Holmes, the writer stated that evidence was pointing towards Forerunners being the antagonists the more you delve into the fiction. Though that’s just his opinion.

I don’t know quite enough about the Forerunner stories or about the Precursors, so I’m not going to form any opinion yet.

I doubt you could speak for the whole race, but since there may be very few Forerunners I would probably say that they would be on the Human side in fighting whatever new threat we would see in the game.

If they are being led by the Master Builder then they will not be allies, he saw Humans as Vermin. If by the Librarian then they will be allies, the same would go for Bornstellar/Didact

This. Besides, we have another two games in the Reclaimer trilogy after H4. I suspect we’ll be fighting the Forerunners first and the Precursors later.

And great idea, Byundis, having Faber unite some of the former Covenant forces.

Oh i almost forgot would the Forerunners be an Endangered Species in Halo 4? Unless they’ve been active for the entire time and not in stasis
