I’ve been wondering about this for this for a while,
why did the flood help Chief and the Arbiter kill the Prophet of Truth (correct me if thats the wrong one) and then atempt to kill the two after said objective was completed?Could the flood possibly help the Chief again?

Most likely because the flood and the chief had a mutual interest to stop truth from firing the Halo ring.
Personally I wouldn’t want to see a major flood outbreak occur again.

Because if the Gravemind hadn’t helped them, Chief and Arbiter wouldn’t have gotten to the control panel in time to shut down the activation of the Halo array. And then everything in the galaxy, including the Flood, would have died. So it was in the Flood’s interest to help them at that time. Especially since only a Reclaimer like Chief could actually turn off the array. Once the common enemy was dead, there was no reason for the Flood to remain allied with Chief.
Now, we don’t know if the Flood will return in Infinite. Even if they did, the chances of them allying with Chief again are pretty low, especially since Chief probably knows better than to trust the Flood.
unlikely we don’t know if flood would be back it could happen since we are going to 07 now chances of them helping chief are low I think chief is smart enough to not trust the flood again after that battle in 3 which was awesome by the way
One of the only ways I see this happening is IF Cortana is not actually infected with the Logic Plague (which has been hinted at in a few places, like a Legendary Crate data drop and Cortana’s long conversation with the Gravemind between H2 and H3. If she is infected, then the Flood would have no reason to ally with the Chief.
But if we assume that the Logic Plague is not in play, and assume the Flood is a long-game plan of the Precursors to test humanity’s ability to take on the Mantle of Responsibility, then yeah there might be a moment where the Flood and the Chief’s objectives align briefly to take out Cortana. This would be very similar to how they allied temporarily to take down Truth.
Either way, I really just want the Flood back. We’re going to Installation 07, which played a huge role in the Forerunner-Flood War and was home to the Palace of Pain. So much Flood lore surrounds this installation that it would be crazy for them not to return imo.
Flood was a main enemy in the Holy Trinity of Halo Games, the Flood making its return would be major, but it may not happen because of the fact that they were mostly wiped out.
There’s a good chance we may see the flood return since Installation 07 has a number of flood facilities that Chief could potentially explore. It may or may not happen, though I would love to see some terminals or some references to the Master Builders Palace of Pain on the ring.
Installation was effectively known for his flood experiences on the humans
I however doubt to see their apparition, even if i really hope of all my heart to see them comeback
What is more likely to happen is to see some multiplayer maps references and maybe a possiblity of infection mode with flood forms
If firefight return in the next halo titles it would be nice to see a flood firefight (survive as longer as possible to the flood waves)

I just hope we don’t have to shoot at robots the entire game. A Flood Firefight mode would be a sweet addition if done right

I have the same feelings about the prometheans
Its maybe the way to fight them or their design, but i have no fun to fight them
Implemented correctly, a flood firefight will increase the game experience

yeah, for me the problem with promethians was just the way shots connected to the plate metal and the sound of it just threw me off. The design was decent, but it just didn’t have the satisfaction when shots connected like previous titles to 4.
I doubt the Flood will help Chief this time. If the story goes the way everyone is thinking it will go the Flood will become a bigger threat than Cortana in Halo Infinite. Since Cortana has made the galaxy weaker the Flood can move in unopposed.
Maybe. Who knows. But the Flood seek only to consume all life. Y’know, the whole Forerunners getting all mad with their creators for granting favor to us instead of them, systematically killing their creators until they became the Flood as an act of revenge but became corrupted and now sought to consume life into one hivemind. Jeez, the Forerunners were idiots.

Depends, if the life in the Galaxy is yet again at risk, they may consider it. If not, no reason.
As others have mentioned, Chief and Arby allied with the flood temporarily because Truth was going to wipe them all out. Once Truth was dead, the Gravemind determined that the major threat was gone, and there was no reason to be allies anymore.
If Cortana goes off the rails and the entire Galaxy is at risk, sure, but unless that happens, I don’t see Chief making friends with the flood again.
BUT…it would be awesome to fight alongaide the flood again briefly. That was the pinnacale of the Halo story IMO (or Halo 3 at the least). It was pretty cool I thought.
if the flood is ally with chief again then it will be think about the same reason as in halo 3 that the chief and the flood now have again a same enemy the prometheans.
we know if you have follow the halo 4 story that the forerunners have make the prometheans to stop the flood infection and we also know in the past halo’s 3 and 4 that the prometheans have fail doing it.
and if you play halo 5 and the last mission you see a lot off guardians and the chance can be that in the next few halo’s chief mission is to stop then all and if you see the last cutscene you see that the guardians use a EMP blast to stop the UNSC then is a ally with a flood to stop then maybe a option you can see again.
