in case any of you weren’t aware, the release version of infinite has a very ugly lighting system, while the flight had a very beautiful lighting system. it’s understandable changes were made to improve performance, but will some form of this lighting ever come back? it looks so good, while what we have in infinites release is flat looking and super crusty (even on a high-end pc with all the settings at max)

I’m pretty sure it the sun position just got changed.
nope it’s an entirely different lighting system, the game in release also downscales your screen by 50% then makes up for it with sharpening for some reason

343 did mention a long while back (maybe before release, maybe a bit after… not really keeping track of exact dates with their releases of patch notes and such) that they had to reposition the light source to allow for better shadows during day/night cycles.
Again, can you provide a link to where this was confirmed? I noticed different lighting, but never heard of a different system altogether beyond 343 repositioning the light source.
Maybe to make it more stable on last gen consoles? Just what I assume. This game IS NOT optimized very well & it makes sense these changes were made to favor older hardware. Even the way they load in assets is horrible on a series x, so it makes sense why there’s a lot of downscaled content in the final release.
it’s not confirmed by 343 obviously, you can tell simply by looking at the results.
although it may not be accurate to say its an entirely different system, that’s just an easy way for me to condense the point
