Will the final game support Maxwell (900 series) cards?

Title says it all. I don’t have the cash to buy a new card, and I’m wondering if my 980 will even work when it releases.

good question. Two friends of mine uses a gtx 960. If someone can tell us, it would be really great. if it don’t work, one of them will probably buy a Series S (because of the high prices for PC components right now)

you could always read the steam requirements for minimum Specs which is:

MINIMUM:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system

  • OS: Windows 10 RS3 x64

  • Processor: AMD FX-8370 or Intel i5-4440

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM

  • Graphics: AMD RX 570 or Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti

  • DirectX: Version 12

  • Storage: 50 GB available space

I imagine that some games can be played under those specs but certain things won’t be running too well.

checked GPU boss and from the scores it would seem your gtx 980 would be more than enough for the game when the minimum can be the 1050ti.

I saw a video of Forza Horizon 5 running on a Athlon 3000G and given how Macrohard is pushing scalability on it’s first party IPs, I would bet 900s will be fine as long as Nvidia doesn’t bork the driver on launch (whenever that actually is haha)

I don’t think @ThermitThonk is worried about his GPU not being theoretically powerful enough to run the game, but that it might not be compatible with it in the first place, being a 900-series GPU.

yeah, it was because the flights didn’t support the Maxwell cards at all, while the list of cards in the files said the 980 would work.

I think 343 mentioned somewhere that they disabled 900 series during the flights due to critical bugs but they will be supported at launch.

If they don’t then 343 is completely dropping the ball on PC optimization. The One S runs this game and it’s nowhere near the 980ti. No excuse for this game not to be supported.
