will the arbiter die in Halo 5 Guardians

Will the arbiter die in Halo 5 Guardian that’s something I’m worried about. Arbiter is my favourite halo character and when it was revealed he is in the game I was so excited but I fear that 343 will kill him off what does everyone else think ?

Is the arbiter even in 5?

We know The Arbiter is assisting Agent Locke with his search for Master Chief, so it is entirely possible he could be in Halo 5: Guardians.

As for him dying, who knows.

Well the arbiter is in the halo 5 e3 trailer and if he’s helping Locke he most definitely is in the game

That wasn’t a trailer for Halo 5: Guardians, it was for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is Agent Locke looking back at Master Chief’s adventures.

How are we supposed to know?

I’m imagining a scenario in which Thel is fighting Jul 'Mdama in single combat, and just as Thel is about to win, Jul calls in a few Knights who temporarily distract Thel and thus giving Jul a perfect window of opportunity to slice him in half.

Which he completes successfully.

Only if he kills Locke first

Actually, I’m going to add more variables into the equation.

With an objective to get the Janus Key (which will probably be in Julsey’s hands by the end of Escalation’s continuation of that story), Thel and Locke, after fighting through hordes of Covenant Remnant within the bowels of Song of Retribution, finally reach the bridge of Song of Retribution where Jul and Halsey have sealed themselves in.

After busting through the doors, Thel confronts Jul, calling him a traitor while also trying to reason with him, and Locke notices that both Halsey and the Janus Key are absent. Locke leaves to find Halsey and the Janus Key and Thel, still trying to reason with Jul, concludes to himself that Jul will never change and proceeds to 1v1 him.

Thel, as an extremely skilled swordsman that has both being the Supreme Commander of the Covenant throughout the HC war and being the one that led the Sangheili Separatists against the Loyalists during the Great Schism within his resume, quickly overpowers Jul. However, Jul, being both resourceful and having access to a treasure-trove of Forerunner artifacts, unveils Forerunner technology-enhanced energy shielding and and a heavily upgraded energy sword to his opponent and thus turning the tide of the battle towards his favor.

As Jul continues to go full MLG on Thel with Forerunner-enhanced weaponry, Locke locates Halsey who is taking advantage of the chaotic situation to escape Song of Retribution and Sanghelios in a docked CRS. Locke prevents Halsey from escaping, takes the Janus Key, and then proceeds to “escort” her back to bridge for execution.

Meanwhile, back in the bridge, Jul succeeds in removing one of Thel’s hands and thus depriving him of his energy sword. Preparing for final execution, Jul lunges towards Thel with all of his force behind him, but then suddenly stops when Locke interrupts the party by entering the bridge with an M6D held to Halsey’s head.

Jul, having developed a slight hint of friendship towards Halsey and serving as major character development for him, is distracted by the possibility of his “friend’s” imminent demise. He turns his attention away from killing Thel and towards saving Halsey.

And in that window of distraction, Thel grabs his energy sword and plunges it straight through Jul’s shoulder blades.

But that is before a Promethean Knight materializes behind Thel and slices him clean in half with its hardlight blade. Before Locke can react, the Knight grabs Jul and teleports him to safety and leaving him, Halsey, and the two halves of Thel’s corpse to contemplate the situation before the perspective turns to the Master Chief.

Even if Locke dies, Thel must be still alive !!!

Well, 343i said they like killing off supporting characters so don’t be surprised if The Arbiter dked.

Oh I agree

Or maybe we could stop loosing characters that we’ve had since Halo 2. Honestly, the only three other supporting characters left from the original trilogy are Arbiter, Rtas, and Hood. Why don’t they kill off Halsey instead? Make her fulfill whatever purpose she has with the Janus Key, and then have Sarah Palmer finish the job that she failed to do the first time. There’s also Lasky, assuming he builds a stronger relationship with Chief first. He could be the next Jacob Keys.

If your argument is to preserve characters that existed during the original trilogy, then killing off Halsey is NOT the way to do it.

(Hint: she was introduced BEFORE Halo: CE in Halo: The Fall of Reach)

True, but she didn’t appear in any of the video games until Reach (which isn’t part of the original trilogy). What I meant by “original trilogy” is Halos 1-3. Books don’t count, even if they overlap the stories of the games, because I’m only referring to the games.

Halsey was in as many games as Arbiter (2). And to be honest, if I had to pick a character to die, it would be her, because I know they aren’t going to kill off their own new characters yet, since they haven’t had enough time to develop. And if 343’s goal is to bring out the humanity in Chief, having him find out or even watch Halsey die would do that a lot better than the death of an Elite that he only met on a few occasions during the war.

Killing off Arbiter, Rtas or Hood would just show that 343 is indifferent about the characters of the core games and don’t care about the potential they still have to expand the story in the games since they’re either going to be replaced with some other generic characters that players have no prior connections with. Either that, or they’ll be killed off for shock value and not be replaced at all. Either way is insulting. 343 has already killed off a very well known character in Halo 4, do they really need to kill another well known character for the sake of plot?

Don’t let people hear you…there is a good chunk of users here who want this series to become “halo of thrones” because that is dark edgy and mature thing to do…-vomits-

I doubt it.

Well this was heartbreaking to read.

The Arbiter will probably be returning for Halo 5, seeing as part of it will probably be taking place on Sanghelios. ONI has been operating on that planet for some time and I wouldn’t be surprised if Locke is still there sewing some mayhem. I hope we get some hints with Halo: Nightfall. Also I have little doubt that we will see him in the brand-new recently added cutscenes for the MCC. And he’s going to be getting some character development in the terminals too I believe.

Lots of Arby love. I can’t wait.

EDIT: If they kill him I will rage. I will be the angriest Halo fan there ever was.

I really, really see the potential in killing him, so much so I almost want it to happen. Same reason I could see Blue Team and Halsey kicking the bucket as well.
