I know it is mentioned that all the star roads in our galaxy were destroyed, but is there a possibility that there are other star roads in outside of the galaxy?
I hope not, star roads are waaaay OP
So would they end up novelty that only appeared in novel? People kept saying that it was nonsensical for Forerunner to lose to Flood ever since Halo 1.
Sadly, many technologies only appear in one novel or game. It’s entirely possible that more star roads exist outside of this galaxy… Halo’s story has rarely ventured far from the milky way, so I don’t think it would be likely to happen.
The Flood are twisted descendants of the Precursors. I have no reason to believe that they couldn’t build more.
Forerunner lost to the Flood for thousands of years straight with little resistance. All Forerunner technologies and advancements were turned against them thanks to Graveminds/Keyminds with the help of Mendicant Bias via the logic plague. I don’t find it nonsense at all, lol.
Technically, 343i can do whatever they want. If they want to say: star roads still exist and we’re going to put them in Halo 5, then they can do that. Although they’re OP, I wouldn’t mind if they were featured in the game, and if we had to destroy one, as we did destroy or damage a lot of dangerous things like the Halos, the Ark, the Mantle’s Approach, the Composer, etc.

“Only appeared in a novel”, as if the main body of Halo’s universe wasn’t built by the novels…
Also, we knew nothing about the Forerunners when Halo CE came out. Nobody could have said anything about whether or not them losing made sense back then because we didn’t even have a tenth of the knowledge we have today about them.

Yeah in CE I thought the flood was some kind of self defense mechanism to kill intruders or prevent the ring from being destroyed. Boy was I wrong.
I doubt we will see a star road in game, or hear about them again. As stated before there are technologies that appear in only one story and are never seen again. It’s how companies keep sci fi universes fresh, they have to constantly come up with new technologies and ideas. I’m also thinking the star roads were destroyed by the Halo rings firing(?).
Also, whenever I hear about a star road I think of that racetrack in Mario Kart. Rainbow Road, I believe it was called.

The backstory of the Flood quite literally hadn’t been established during the time CE was made, and for a good number of years it was treated as something that each Bungie employee had their own headcanon about.
If Star Roads appear before humanity or any of the other factions/races get a degree of understanding of neural physics technology, the galaxy is screwed. The only two that might still have that esoteric knowledge hidden away from 100,000 years ago is the San’Shyuum and Mendicant Bias.
At some point, I think we might see Star Roads and other Precursor constructs make their way into the games - but I think we’re a long way off from that. The Flood only started using Precursor constructs when they had developed Keyminds in the latter years of the Forerunner-Flood war, right now the extent of the Flood’s presence in the Milky Way is:
- Locked away on Halo installations
- Stranded on an unknown number of Shield Worlds
- Loose on the Spirit of Fire
No doubt, the final point there will come around to haunt us when the Flood properly returns.
The Great Gravemind was said to have consumed whole galaxies in Silentium, and Precursor Star Roads were making their way into the Milky Way from well outside of it - so the likelihood is that there are other galaxies out there with Precursor constructs and worlds infested by the Flood. No doubt, it’s one of the many seeds Greg left for 343 to pick up on in the future.
With the firing of the rings all precursor technolgy was removed from are Galaxy’s time and space this includes the star roads.
Opening archived databanks of [adjutant] Catalog…

The Boomerang Nebula is actually a Burn home to multiple star roads and “classis malum” (Latin for “evil group/class/fleet”, supposedly referring to Flood-controlled fleets).
I think Precursor constructs will return from the galaxy at one point, along with the Flood itself. The Precursors will have existed beyond this galaxy and the Flood likely came from Path Kethona. It seems strange to detail what the Forerunners fought again as well as demonstrating what the Flood is capable of, only to just forget about it. I think it’s clear the Precursors and Flood are going to return to test humanity and the existing races of the galaxy. But it won’t be for a long time, considering the state of the galaxy now. The larger purpose of the Reclaimer Saga is to develop humanity make sure they reclaim Forerunner technology. There’s chances that the Flood will return at some point in the Reclaimer Saga through a small outbreak; possibly to foreshadow what is to to come.
The next Saga after this one will probably deal with the Flood at its full might. I think all the races in the galaxy must be united to take of the Flood at the height of the Interstellar stage with Precursor technology. Part of the reason the Forerunners lost the war against the Flood is because they resumed to cooperate with other species on equal terms and even devolved them, and thus their strategies were predictable to the Flood Keyminds.
(By the way, does anybody really wonder what Precursor technology looks like?)
Was the bird thing ever comfirmed as forerunner? If not could it be precursor? As in orginal guardians of the mantle?

I doubt that would be Precursor because Precursor isn’t described using machine like Forerunner. I mean sure Primordial convinced Mendicant Bias all that, but that was just convincing and corrupting not much building and utilizing machine. I think that could Didact’s consciousness in the machine or Mendicant Bias.

I forgot about Star roads entering from beyond the Milky Way and how the Great Gravemind claimed to have consumed galaxies whole. Thanks for the refresh, I think I’m about due to read through my collection again.
I think Silentium greatly foreshadowed their coming. Obviously, Precursors don’t want to test humanity yet. I guess they are waiting for humanity to acquire all the Forerunner technology and unite the galaxy.

Precursors… real name unknown?
