A lot of long-time xbox users will agree when I say despite all the positives in graphical quality this generation of consoles generates, the shadows are nothing to marvel about. it seems a lot of games have the same pixely shadows that have gradient so they arent too obviously pixely. this was mostly obvious in earlier 360 games, and even halo 3’s shadows werent that good.
So, with all the graphical and textural overhaul (I’m mostly impressed with the textures. just look at that detail!), halo 4 could be mistaken for a PC game. BUT I’m still concerned about the shadowing effects. I know this isnt a huge issue nor one that is looked at primarily, but just a thought
As long as I cant see shadows/lights on people above me, I’m sure it will look fine.
I remeber one time I was in a match in Reach, and he/she had an energy sword equiped, and I saw the blue glow right thought above me.
The halo 4 shadows seem to be much better. There is a better lighting system, in forge as well, objects cast shadows.
The shadows look incredible! I’ve noticed in other games (even in Reach), that the edges of shadows look blocky, as if it wasn’t anti-aliased properly.

Yeah, I just played a game on Swordbase aka Green lift(<irrelevant I know, lol) and I saw this players shadow right thru the floor.
I actually think they’re quite fantastic quality for a console.
The shadows look better than previous Halo games. The graphics and everything are much better in Halo 4.
I never thought I’d see the day where someone would say that a console game’s graphics could be compared to a PC’s graphics.
Yeah, as long as they don’t cast through the entire damn universe.
I think the graphics look AMAZING for halo 4, almost as good as Crysis…

Well, that’s just what you get in console games this gen, look at any game and you’ll soon realise they lack AA. It can be better or worse, sure enough, but you’ll have to wait for 720 to get proper AA on consoles.
