Ray Tracing was slated to come to HALO INFINITE after launch - this was before the year delay.
With the year delay, could it be possible for Ray Tracing to be implemented at launch now?

We are not sure if it will be implemented at launch yet. Honestly it doesn’t matter to me. This entire RT hype train is way too much. If those resources can be better used in other areas I would rather that happen.

Watching the multiplayer trailer, the floors and walls on some maps looked like they had Ray Tracing applied for the reflections; so who knows?
Would love to see it in the game, however I’m definitely not losing any sleep if its not in whatsoever.
Take a look at this gif posted by klobrille over at Xbox on Twitter and pay attention to the reflection on the ground. Definitely looks ray traced. But can not confirm based solely off a gif.

They already hav solutions for reflections without ray tracing. This is what I mean that the RT hype train is too much lol. People don’t realize that other solutions exist that have the same impact, but without being a perfect reflection.

I almost watched that gif for 3 minutes. Infinite looks so good…

That’s what makes ray tracing even cooler because it actually is the perfect reflection.
Infinite alredy looks beautiful, but it would be amazing to see it with ray tracing!
Ray tracing will take a while on the Series X. The developers need to get used to the system and Microsoft needs to build the APIs. It often takes a generation or two before a console starts to shine.
And the semi-open nature of Halo… along with the absolute chaos of enemies, vehicles, and gun fire… will make it difficult to add a lot of ray tracing.
It takes a lot of processing power and grunt to ray-trace. A lot. And that shouldn’t be at the expense of more enemies or explosions. I don’t want to have the time to admire any pretty reflections.
From what they’ve shown so far, Ray Tracing should be in it day 1, but that might be one of those things that they add in for the previews but still have work to do on it before adding it to the live game.
As long as there is the option to turn it off.
Heavy ray tracing usually comes with the burden of 60fps or lower. I want 120.

Yeah, but how much does it add to the game? That is the design decision. Sure it looks cool however those r sources can always be used elsewhere. I’m just stating that RT isn’t the only reflection method. RT can be used for other type of lighting.
Personally im fine with or without it game looks GORGEOUS to say the least and we all know they will be taking FULL ADVANTAGE of the series X 120FPS need i say more.
I never understood the hype behind Ray Tracing. What’s so great about it? Many games have done phenomenally with existing lighting techniques, so what makes this incredibly taxing technology so interesting?
With their delay I do hope it is implemented at launch.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution will be coming to Xbox Series X|S soon and will definitely help achieve 120fps with ray tracing enabled.

Super Resolution isn’t perfect though. It’s definitely has some major faults that fall pretty short of native. 120 with ray tracing isn’t going to happen lol. That isn’t really achievable with the top of the line GPUs with DLSS. It also depends on how much RT is used.

I have an RTX 3090 and I achieve 220-230 ish FPS with ray tracing on in Cod Warzone with DLSS and 160-170 ish FPS with out DLSS so it’s definitely achievable. The tech inside the Xbox is powerful enough to render games at 144hz provided they were rendered at 1080p or 1440p instead of 4K. 120hz was just set as the benchmark so that later in the X|S lifecycle games will be able to maintain constant 120hz. While Super Resolution tech isn’t perfect it will provide a large boost and will only get better over time. Before Infinite’s lifecycle is over I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see 120fps with ray tracing. Especially if the game really does last 10 years as planned. Just my opinion.

Are you using ray tracing? I’m talking about 4K120FPS with ray tracing to be clear.
