Will Players Return To Halo?

that a lot off customization stuff is going be stuck behind paywalls is something old and commen all.
its all knowing since there told its becoming F2P that a lot off customization are becoming behind paywalls but that is something that has been accept by a lot off the communety.

In war zone there is a big problem when it release, such as cross-play and cheating, but its problem does not affect the hotness of the game.
The IW ignored it, they have always wanted to teach players to play games, do not listen to Gamer’s opinions, but they are talented they can make some top stuff.
Then they went into the development of new games and the operation of the war zone was handed over to Raven or a new studio, which was the beginning of the disaster, but now the war zone is still the highest in the series.
Because his foundation is good enough and the mode is rich and the payment experience is first-class.
At the same time, FTB also has some examples of rescuing the initial disaster, such as apex.
I don’t want to dispute that FTB is good or bad, it has its advantages and disadvantages, but in the infinite ftb, without the advantages of ftb and the advantages of the old halo, FTB is just a marketing excuse for 343.
The PC data also shows a serious decline in players, and the more serious point is the level of 2042.
2042 is a bad game that cheaters won’t play now.
Now I see that 343 does not please new players at both ends, PC players and console players are not satisfied, only the media celebrities and 343 fans who do not play in depth continue to praise.
343 need to understand that forcing cross-play and lowering the threshold of difficulty will not retain new player
Frequent updates of new content, good operation and rich play can retain players, in many requirements, PC players and console players are the same.

I just started playing Destiny 2 again after years of not playing. I enjoyed it so much, I bought the Beyond Light, 30th Anniversary, and Witch Queen DLC bundles. 343/Infinite failed to keep me entertained past 600 matches and the questionably short cut Campaign. I’ll pop in for events and might even stay a while for Forge and Season 2, but I think it’s safe to say that Infinite will never become my main game like previous Halo titles were.

Even if they add more maps and modes. Even if they add a progression system. Even if they add achievement milestone based rewards. Even if they add armor to the armor lockers. Hate Halo 4 all anyone wants, but it had tons of content. I spent countless hours unlocking gear and abilities from each class. It had a great customization system, even if people hated the weapon loadouts and new armor art styles. I hate Infinite’s lack of chest, forearm, and leg options. I hate the lack of colors. I hate the emblems.

Infinite has nothing. Nothing to do, and nothing to earn. Maybe in three or more years it will have a decent amount of content, but not anytime soon.

I’m not sure how ā€˜old’ you are, but I for one being an older (Halo) gamer with a family and full time job love Halo Infinite, especially its campaign. I really enjoy what’s been added and it still feels like my Halo to me. And for clarification people aren’t just grappling around the map in multiplayer everywhere, it is a rare enough occasion really. The monetization I’m not a huge fan of but I can accept that’s where gaming is now.

Everyone can have their opinions but not everyone is the same regardless of age, just keep that in mind, as I subscribe to game pass and truly find it to be the best expense of my money considering the amount of games I can play without having to purchase any throughout the year.

More players will be going back to MCC after this trash.

I have played MCC heavily before Infinite surfaced. I then played the MP mode until the campaign was released.
MCC is now a tad over 300 hours of gaming, mostly the campaigns

Infinite is obviously new so it will take more action to rack up more games. I am looking forward for the coop for the campaign which a new idea for Halo.

I doubt it. They might get enough players to stay afloat for a time but they’ve blown their 1st impressions. I’ve been playing Halo since ā€œThe Dukeā€ was a thing and I have no desire to play any more 343 Halo games.

From what I can tell, the younger gen doesn’t care either as my nieces and nephews are good with Fortnite and Apex with zero interest in Halo (I’ve tried to Halo-ize them).

There’s too much competition in the gaming space for people to wait for a product to be fixed, its too easy to just move over to something else just as good or better that actually works, and theres new games all the freaking time now.

Infinite falling on its face would be the best outcome, it will force MS/343 to dig deep, clean house and focus on getting back to feature complete, competent products.

However, my personal opinion is they have no idea what they’re doing and this is the first step towards Xbox becoming strictly a service provider.

On PC, probably not. There are too many complete polished competitive shooters on PC for people to bother with Infinite again (CSGO, Valorant, Siege, just to name a few). On Xbox, it has a chance because your only real alternative is COD. Battlefield is a disaster and the only other noteworthy shooter games are Fortnite and Apex Legends. But a lot of people are actually tired of battle royales. Siege isn’t that popular on Xbox. Destiny 2 is a mess. Gaming in general isn’t doing so hot right now to be honest.

So yeah, if 343 gets their act together fairly quickly and fixes the game, it’ll basically be the only game in town (pun intended). I think the Xbox population should be healthy for a long time if they move quickly.

Edit: Siege actually is pretty popular but it’s still a bit of a niche game in my eyes. The game runs nice on my Series S but it’s not everybody’s cup of tea.

So… not too many people here are optimistic. I hate to see that. Hopefully 343 is working around the clock to fix these things. But obviously being realistic, that likely wont happen.

Edit: one thing that keeps me hopeful is that I’ve got several friends who have really never played much Halo. They dabbled in H2, and thats it…15 years later they are playing infinife on PC and absolutely love it. I didnt even have to do much convincing lol. They still recognize the same flaws everyone else does, but they are holding out hope for quick fixes. They see the potential there and thats huge to me. Hopefully many folks are like them and will keep the game on their radar. New and old fans alike

The answer to this question is dependent upon the market in general.

If you believe that the formula (Arena shooter, or really anything that isn’t a BR) is no longer competitive with the rest of the market then realistically very few players would come back or new players entering the fold, however if you are (like me) and think the formula itself can be extremely successful even amongst titans like Apex or Fortnite then the answer is a resounding yes.

I think people base a lot of things off of paid games… a game like Battlefield 2042 or CoD Vanguard (which are both struggling I might add) are unlikely to rebound because those games are paid so someone that hasn’t purchased it isn’t going to want to get it months/years from now, a F2P game though there is no real reason why someone wouldn’t want to install/play it again if it comes out with some bangers.

I must be the last remaining player that is still mostly pleased with the game.
I play a few times a week and I love it.
Even though ive only spent 20 dollars on the game (aside from the campaign) I actually wish there was MORE store content for purchase as far as cosmetics go.
The only fixes I’d like to see is:

  • BTB (which will be patched as of tomorrow)
  • Desync
  • Server browser/ region filter.

Apart from that the game has been one of the MOST stable launches compared to anything else.
Cyberpunk, BF2042, Vanguard were absolute sh*t shows.
Apart from the desync issue the game runs and plays pretty damn good IMO.

@xll_ANT_llx I still play quite a bit, for the record. I plan on playing until the game is dead. Whether that be 1 month or 1 decade. I just made this post hoping OTHERS were holding out hope like me!

I think the campaign is phenominal. Its got a few hiccups and small things Id like to see changed, but would anyone complain about these small things if matchmaking wasnt so messed up? Probably not… People tend to knit-pick and repeat things

Most F2P consumers are not the type to stick to games, so majority won’t be coming back. It’s like this for most games, unless they can capture the streamer viewership.

The game (Multiplayer) is just your basic Halo providing only a competitive scene. It has no tournament-style game mode, which was being designed at one point all the way back to Halo 2 but got cut from the pipeline. That alone likely would have captured an audience. And, there’s no KOTH-style game modes to capture the old-school longtime fanbase which already have limited times to play Halo.

I don’t even think Forge means anything to the game. I mean for anything to even gain long-term playability, it’s going to take over a year after that is released. And, Customs, along with that, (post-H2) has been the place for a small minority of the fanbase. - Public Custom lobbies could change that, maybe.

I think there’s far more to fix than what gets the spotlight and what 343i is willing to acknowledge as a problem.

Until then (probably 3+ years from now), it’s just gonna be your basic Halo that feels like it came out 10 years ago. Then again, the F2P format is not even that old

DAGNABBIT that is not very YABADABADOO !!

but there was for the playstation and xbox a solution in warzone since launch about the cheating problem from the pc side.
the solution was that crossplay was not force but has a option to turn on/off.

the only complain’s that are left there are the complains from the PC community.

in halo infinite there are a lot off complains from the xbox community that there get pc cheaters in there lobby and wane see that crossplay become’s a option and not force.

since that game has a lot off bug’s and problems that need to be fix.

pc players and concole players never have been satisfied with each other.
there is a reason why years ago a lot of concole players told there not wane have crossplay in matchmaking with pc players since there not wane play with then.
why you think concole players wane see that crossplay is becoming a option or remove from matchmaking since there not trust the PC players with the high risk off cheating in matchmaking.

so a lot off concole players are not playing matchmaking and are waiting that there chance the crossplay system or remove it.
if it was a option from the start then it was not big deal for the concole communety and a lot have keep playing still.

People return when interests are pique.

2 major things will bring players back to MP:
Forge and Firefight.

Until then, fixing the game and adding new maps is just a stop gap measure to keep people interested. Those that aren’t already gone.
