One of the many things I didn’t like in Halo 4 was how plasma weapons like the Plasma Pistol and Storm Rifle sounded, neither of them had that distinct plasma sound like how the Plasma Pistol and Plasma Rifle had in previous games. For example the Storm rifle to me sounded something like a suppressed LMG (or something like that), didn’t sound anything like plasma.
I haven’t seen many gameplay videos of H5 yet but I have yet to see/hear a plasma weapon. I’m hoping that they at least try and make it sound right this time round.
… We don’t actually know what Plasma sounds like IRL. So this is kinda moot. Anyway, I like H4’s PP sound better, but I’m kind of meh over the SR. Never used it, honestly.

I know the actual sound of plasma is unknown but I would like them to sound more like previous games as they had their own distinctive sound.

Please no slow projectiles. That has always been pretty unrealistic up until Halo 4. No army would use slow bullets and guns, and they wouldn’t do any damage moving slow.
But yes, plasma weapons should be pretty powerful and a little slower than human weapons. Forerunner weapons on the other hand… I don’t know.

Gameplay > Canon.
OT: I never really liked Halo 4’s weapon sounds to be honest, hated the Storm Rifle and was really hoping the Carbine (it’s not plasma but whatever) would go back to it’s classic sound in H5, guess H2A blew that out of the water.
Better gameplay would be when the plasma projectiles move fast. Halo 4 and Halo CE are the only games where plasma guns are viable in mp. In Halo 2, 3 and Reach they were pretty much unusable.
dear god no at these muh slow plasma projectiles
it needs to be fast because like Jenkins said they were unusable at anything beyond 15 feet
they also need real damage vs health and not just shields
Covenant weapons in Halo 4 sounded indistinguishable from UNSC and Forerunner weapons. They really dropped the ball on that one. Their signature sounds from the original trilogy were dropped entirely. This negative trend seems to have leaked into H2A, with the downright silly Energy Sword noises. I hope that Covenant weapons sound like Covenant weapons in Halo 5.

There are more to balancing mechanics than just the speed of projectiles, you can have a slow projectile weapon that is still useful.

Not really, it makes them different from human weapons which are better against health but not as good against shields, part of the “balancing act”.

This, the original sounds were part of what made Halo feel great to me.
If they where to bring back the Plasma rifle with slow projectiles it would have a very fast kill time, almost OP, to compensate for the slow bullet speed. A skill based auto, per se.

If they killed faster then I wouldn’t mind slower projectiles. However in previous games they have had the same or even worse kill times while also having slow projectiles.
