Correct me if I am wrong but didnt halo 3 use to make you leave party chat to play ranked games? That was such a good idea because it allows for more teamwork. I hate joining any multiplayer game, calling someone out, and nobody responds because they are in party chat with someone playing zoo tycoon. Its frustrating. I also understand that some players can be vulgar, thats what the mute button is for tho. I hope they force the team work on players lol What do you guys thinks? Do you like the idea?
I don’t believe there’s been anything said on this.
I’m no expert but since this is going to be one big interface, I think you could only have the option of allowing party chat in the WHOLE MCC or not allowing.
I for one would prefer party chat as I don’t really have strategies when I play. I just play for fun.
@Unknown… Would you be okay with party chat in social games and no party chat in ranked games? I know people love party chat, I have even started using it because of the lack of team work but I think people would be more inclined to use team work if they were not in party chat. I would consider myself more of a hardcore gamer than a casual gamer.
I would be perfectly fine if a party chat restriction was implemented into matchmaking. Party Chat has ultimately lead to the death of the online community in any Xbox title where you don’t have friends to play it with.

This. I think Party Chat is a great feature, but it really did help kill the online community.
Hey, maybe since the Xbox One’s party system suuuuuuucks more people will stay in game chat.
I am all for restricting party chat to only social so that way people can work together, especially if you are not playing with friends. Also remember in Halo 2 when you would talk to people in the pregame lobby of matchmaking while waiting for others to join, without knowing who was going to be on your team and who wasn’t. It let you meet new people before you were biased against them because they were on the opposite team.
Maybe I just don’t want to talk to you people, maybe I would prefer to talk with my friends. Is that such a bad thing? I’m all for making new friends but when it come down to it its me sitting in a lobby with 7 people with no mic, the other team in party chat, everyone except me on my team in party chat, or rude, obnoxious, loud, bad taste in music, or underage squeeky people.
MS said something about developers and publishers do not have the ability to restrict the party system on the X1, but that may have changed I think restrictions are pointless because people who don’t talk won’t and those that aren’t really fond of some parts of the community auto mute everyone before the games start. I don’t mind the party chat system as it is basically a closed channel for your team. For me personally I only play competitive MP with friends and usually will not play unless I have at least 1 friend with me.
No matter what 343i does, the Xbox One comes with a Kinect that allowes party chats to be started. So yes there will still be party chat.
No chat in matchmaking = me auto muting everyone i come across in MM
Sorry people, but getting rid of it would simply piss ALOT of people off
Heck no why should we be able to communicate with friends when we are in the heat of BATTLE.
Halo 3 has never had party chat restrictions in ranked.
I always auto-muted everyone when I was not in party chat with friends.

There’s a mute option for a reason.

What if you want to video chat someone over Skype while playing a game? Can’t do that in the game lobbies. Everyone should always be able to talk to who they want, if you want people to talk in lobbies then find people who will.

But that means I could just be in a party with friends, saves me a few extra button pushes.

No, they would just be more inclined to mute everyone and/or not listen.
It sounds like you people hate everyone on Live…
I use party chat to talk to friends who are playing other games. If I’m forced into game chat, I might as well use teamwork since I already have a mic in. If it’s a really serious game, I’ll just go to game chat like normal.

everyone plays different. I prefer to not talk to strangers and only friends. If I am alone everyone gets auto muted.

When I do have people in gamechat, it is rare for me to find someone who actually uses it productively. Usually people just talk randomly or have obnoxious music playing in the background or seem to be smacking their mic around for no reason.
Forcing people into that will not cause more people to talk, it will cause people to either stop playing that game/playlist or mute everyone.

Well hopefully the return of the older Halos will give players more reason to talk to each other. Excessive teamwork was the norm back then. I just miss the social environment that Live once was.
