I recently completed the campaign of Halo 4 and got to see how much more deep the story of 343i Halo goes into the lives of each character. One of the main things I noticed is how characters actually have potential to interact with each other on a real life level, be it anger, gleefulness, lust, whatever. And on that note, it was pretty obvious that Spartan Palmer wanted Chief, even if she was acting uninterested and passive, it was obvious when you looked through the smoke and mirrors that she was crazy for Chief. So either Chief is dumb as hell and couldn’t take the hint or he just genuinely wasn’t interested in her that way, which to me kinda says something because have you seen Spartan Palmer? I betcha the entire UNSC Marine Corp has got polaroids of her pinned up in their barracks.
So with the possibility of Halo Infinite being rated M, I’d really like for them to dive into this. Real life human relationships in games makes for a more interactive experience and a much better story, so if Chief is just gonna keep blowin’ off Spartan Palmer I’m gonna need an explanation. Whether he’s just asexual, has super PTSD and just doesn’t like other humans and just wants Cortana as his Mom, or he’s a homosexual and secretly hides his lust for Spartan Locke but is too afraid to be open about it.
I ain’t gonna just sit back and let all these questions go unanswered. Most people who play Halo are adults, and I think we deserve to have a story that’s more real life oriented than something you’d see in a children’s cartoon.
