Will Marty O'Donnell return?

I’m assuming most people are aware that Bungie kicked Marty off their team, so that means he should be free game to return to the Halo franchise, right? I’m hoping 343 snatches him right up. I enjoyed the Halo 4 soundtrack, but it didn’t even come close to the stuff Marty brought to the table.

Anybody else want him back?

I truly enjoyed the Halo 4 music, it was one of the few things that actually felt like “Halo”. That being said, Neil Davidge along side Marty O’Donnel would be awesome. Neil can make “Halo” music, although it does sound different than Marty’s music, and Marty created “Halo” music. Could be epic.

Ooh, a hybrid Marty/Neil… I like the sound of that. Tag-teaming the next soundtrack would be epic.

Not unless Neil has been under contract.

I don’t know if merging two creative minds would work… Conflict much?

If you’ve heard about how much Neil ‘respects Marty’, and how much of an inspiration Halo music was for Neil, you’d think he’d be smart enough to listen to the Father of Halo music, instead of letting his ego get in the way. That said, conflict is still of high potential, so yeah, i could see why 343i wouldn’t have the both of them working together. It’d still be pretty cool though.

One of the priorities for 343 is definitely the music. Halo 4 music sucked, plain and simple. I really hope Davidge doesn’t return. Jinouchi in other hand, did a good job.

As for Marty, we don’t know if 343 will hire him. It would be awesome. Personally, i’d love it. It’ just matter of time.

No he will not be making the music of Halo 5: Guardians

This post made me throw up in my mouth a little.

Let’s dehumanize other people who associate with Halo 4, shall we? /sarcasm

Marty would definitely be welcomed back with open arms, I absolutely hated Davidge’s work. Not a single track felt like Halo. Instead, the entire OST of Halo 4 was a generic mix between Michael Bay’s Transformers and Star Wars, with a tiny hint of dubstep. Absolute garbage. The only memorable track was “117,” and I’m pretty sure Davidge didn’t even write that one.

I feel like this is dramatic. What do you mean?

Yeah, it kinda had more of a Reclaimer saga feel to it.

How about we skip the melodrama, and actually pay attention to what i was saying. I never said Neil had an ego. I was using a figure of speech to convey the fact that Neil would be wise to follow Marty’s direction should they ever collaborate together, and not grow a big head, and riot should they ever have a difference in philosophy regarding Halo music, because no one understands Halo music like Marty does (AKA the one who created it).

The even funnier thing is, you say ‘Lets de-humanise anyone associated with Halo 4’, as if i am even remotely criticising Neil, when there was no such implication. I actually like Neil, and want him to come back for Halo 5, although pursuing a slightly different direction (i.e. tone down the electrical sounding beats in his music). So, please, if you cannot properly interpret a borderline sarcastic comment, don’t reply to it.

Just want to point out Davidge isn’t even composing for Halo 5…

Which is a shame. Kazuma is doing most of it, but there’s obviously a secondary composer. Who is it, i wonder?

I think possibly it’s Marty, and he was brought on board a little later. I’m not saying this is happening, but since the game has been in development since 2012, at the time Marty was working on Destiny. I think he will have slight music in the game, and with Halo 6 will have more music.

Neil Davidge and Kazuma Jinnouchi showed that they were able to produce excellent music for Halo 4. Davidge may be gone, but Jinnouchi still has my faith. All he needs is better implementation of the music in-game and he is golden. Having Marty would be nice, but that is all it is as far as I’m concerned, just nice. A neat idea, but ultimately an unnecessary one.

But your link, that you provided earlier, suggests the complete opposite.
