Forgive my newbish ignorance, but does the existence of dedicated servers mean we will not be able to play on a local network between xboxes?
Or is it completely independent?
I just love LAN partying and it has been a HUGE part of Halo to throw LAN parties and play with friends.
Whaddaya think?

God I hope so.
But I believe it should be able too.
Look at Halo Custom Edition, Dedi servers existed and Lan as well and we are talking about last decade tech so it should be possible.
Yeah I hope so too…
I hope there’s LAN, because without it, you won’t be able to put your gun down.
Unless they go BEYOND THE GAME and finally implement the most obvious feature that you should’ve been able to do it in online alone!
I to have a similar question. How could we lan if the xbox one does not work offline? That is what I have been reading anyway, your games wont work for more than 1hr unless you connect to the internet. Am I wrong?

I guess it will be replaced with custom games matches.

I don’t see where that info would come from. They said that you need to check online once each day. It’d be a really bad and strange move from MS if they suddenly took away the LAN option. Stranger things have happened of course, but somehow I still have faith in them.
Well, I seriously hope it’s all there (with both XOne and Halo, or else a huge reason for getting these games and consoles is left out (and I don’t know if it would be worth it anymore)). I play over 90% of my multiplayer over LAN.
If there is no LAN support in Halo, I’m not buying an Xbox One.
It’s that simple.
There are 7 of us that get together weekly for Halo LAN gaming. 6 of us have 360s at home plus we have the 4 communal 360s we keep in the garage with the TVs. That’s 10 360s plus all the replacement consoles and controllers over the years.
If they do away with LAN support in Xbox One, we’ll move onto either the PS4 or just keep playing the 360.
Our Xboxes are all linked up and we can jump online for multiplayer but our pipe isn’t large enough for a lag free experience for 7 of us over a single cable modem. That’s why we usually play against one another in lag free environment over LAN. It works great. If they take that away, we’ll do something else and it won’t be on the Xbox One.
Just login with your xbox to XBL, shut it down and connect to the lan party using the Lan port. You have 24 hours to play LAN until you need to reconnect.
I guess it will be something like that.

Microsoft has said that in the coming conventions, more information will be given in regards to the connectivity problem so I believe that we will get some good news, sometime in the future.
As far as LAN connections, I think this also will be an issue expressed at a later time.
