Will in game purchases expand the games longevity truly?

It seems like most games nowadays that have heavy mtx but are free to play, only add more cosmetics as time goes on vs actual gameplay content. Is there a road map out there that explains game play additions to infinite? I remember 343 saying the game will have support for 10 years but I haven’t found any new maps, new game modes, or anything like that being discussed or revealed. Only things being leaked are cosmetics.

I think forge is slated for Season 3 and Co-op campaign for Season 2 IIRC.

There wasn’t really a roadmap for long term, they did reveal everything they were going to do this season with a small graphic which consist of more Fractures: Yaroi, Tactical ops, and Cyber Showdown in the upcoming months for whatever that’s worth to you.

nope… the game is doomed because they don’t make changes fast enough. they can’t fix the bugs, they then took vacation time (holiday, expected) and the game dies while they are on that vacation.

they will come back to a meager playerbase, typically the whales buying all the cosmetics, and then need to push a SERIOUS wave of changes for anyone to bother coming back.

The campaign, while nice, is a let down, over 2/3 of it isn’t in the game yet - so why bother buying/supporting it, until it actually arrives? Forge mode, Co-Op, Mission select, these should have all been in there day 1. But once again, this title was rushed.

This title was rushed, announced, booed into submission, then took a year to ‘fix things’ but that wasn’t enough time, rushed out MP with all it’s bugs from even beta testing still present (why have beta testing if your not going to take time to fix the issues before launch?) Rushed the MP out to players, got whales to bite, then rushed the campaign out, only to now have no where to stand.

They lied about the armor being customizable and earned via playing the game and doing events, you have to buy it. Plain and simple. If not directly, then via battlepass purchases. This is not “play and earn” this is "pay, to pay, to play, to receive’ - you pay twice. battlepass and cosmetic bundles, or 3 times paid with battlepass, campaign and cosmetic bits.

It is a cash grab easily compared to Fallout 76. While it may look prettier - for many it runs the same (as launch fallout 76) has the same predatory money scheme, and is pushing more monetization out every month without actually FIXING the game.

I think their “plan” may have been to split the whole game to artificially make its life last longer, i.e. forge and co-op campaign. (Also to make the gameplay modes since 343 seems to have issues with time management and employee retention due to contracting instead of fully hiring people)

Forge should (maybe) bring back people once the creative community makes their magic, but I dont see cosmetic designs and small DLCs making Infinite last 10 years.
