Not splashing water particle effects, not a forge canvas with a single vast surface …but like a scalable rectangular sheet of “surface water” that I could use to make anything from a wet, puddly floor, to a decorative koi pond, to a lake, to an ocean…all of my own design, without a reliance upon dev-placed water.
Can anyone who has accessed the early builds either confirm or deny such a thing’s existence?
Far Cry 5 had this, and it was great.
They even had it so that if you placed it on a map, if players “went in the water”, the player model would switch to the in-game swilling mechanic.
I know Spartans don’t swim, but I do have some grand ideas for Forge maps that involve water features…and I have yet to hear or see anything about it.
I was playing on some old Halo 2 maps recently, and I found myself wondering what they would be like with a fresh coat of paint. Specifically, Uplift and Remnant.
Uplift was that old Vista exclusive map, and Remnant was a part of the Maptacular map pack way back when it was still called Relic. The first one would be great for BTB now that it’s had a bunch of stuff added to it, and Remnant would be great for smaller objective-based games.
But both are only really possible if we could add water with Forge. Even if it’s just a “level” thing where the flat surface is determined by height, that’d still be great than nothing at all. A lot of great stuff you could do with it.
