If 343 Industries announced that the upcoming Halo Infinite will be coming out on Steam, do you see the new Halo video game getting a PC flight? Maybe we can see Halo Infinite getting a PC flight either on October 2020 or November 2020? Do you see that happened? Would like to hear your thoughts.
Don’t think that’s happening. At the moment, I haven’t heard a thing about the beta testing they promised console players so I highly doubt PC players will get to flight test it.
I suspect a mention of flighting will happen no sooner than July. I feel certain that PC will be included. Maybe not simultaneously, probably console will go first.

^This. I’m pretty sure will get the first flight shortly after the gameplay reveal in July. If they play their cards right we’ll get the promised beta of both versions (PC and console) at the same time. Sadly 343i rarely play their hands right, so something might go wrong…
But still, I’m sure that’s the plan for now!^^
Honestly, at this point, there’s no reason why they should release a flight. It’s too late. They won’t be able to make many changes in time for release. It will be more like a CoD beta (just a demo to the game). Maybe if they were to release the flight before the four months before release, progress could be made.
343 did it right releasing Halo 5’s beta almost a year before the game came out. It was an actual beta build where changes could be made.
Then there’s the MCC flights taking place for PC. What’s even the point? 343 still releases the game with all the known bugs in it anyways, and starts working on the next game before squashing any of the bugs. Makes me sad.

I’m not convinced. I’m hopeful both console and pc will get the flighting programme, but I feel there will be not enough time, we had the Halo 5 beta a full year before release. I don’t see us getting more than a stress test for Halo Infinite between July and November, that’s if Halo Infinite is on schedule. However, I’ll be very happy to be wrong about that.

Hi doesn’t run on Blam/Halo engine any longer, we have to keep that in mind!
If it was any other game running on most modern engines I know, I would say November would be more than enough. So I hope Slipspace will be one of those as well, at least for a FPS style game (Frostbyte is awesome, but try making a RPG game on it, something like… I dunno Mass Effect? That would be crazy)!
Considering this fact and still suggesting July for the flights, imho it’s all a matter of when XSX is coming out. If the rumours about XSX releasing in November are real for instance, I feel like that would be more than enough time to iron down most significant bugs and even do some significant changes. If it’s mid to end October at least the bugs part would still be true.
That was one of the major points behind Slipspace after all: making significant changes in a lot less development time. With Blam to modify a geometry meant re-compiling the whole map after all. I would guess that’s not the case anymore, because that’s not how modern engines work.
Now, if we’re talking a September release or even worse… August flights with a September or early October release! Well yeah, that’s when I start being pessimistic and claiming those flights are obviously just glorified demos at that point, or stress-tests at best!

Valid points all. Do you really see flight for July? Do we even have a date for the reveal? I appreciate your views, I always do and we’re quite often very much in agreement, but I cannot see the flights happening in July. I know the new engine is a huge plus, I watched an interview where Bonnie Ross said they needed quicker ways to add content etc. That’s in a perfect world though.
With Covid 19 and working from home etc, I have to wonder where or what 343i prioritise at this time, complete and polish the game or worry about flights, maybe it’s all guns blazing but I feel some targets or goals might have been moved or dropped or postponed. Also the unkown July date is a concern, I don’t see flights before the reveal. Late reveal, goodbye July flights imo. Who knows? Guess we’ll find out in July, at some point.

Dear Waypoint buddy, with that and everything you just said before my quote cut you’re basically pointing out my fears here. I have zero doubts that July was the initial plan. Between 343i promises about flights and MS history of releasing betas and indy titles right after presenting the game during E3 and more recently even on Mixer, why would they change strategy without announcing it all of a sudden? And considering Hi is a XSX launch title I would say E3 2020 (or its streaming equivalent now) was the earliest imaginable for a flight.
However what was planed and what’s really possible are two separate pairs of shoes imho. Reason why I early suggested a worse case scenario with the beta only launching in August at the earliest. Sadly with the Covid19 situation on our hand every sudden change of plans is possible. Heck, technically speaking the plans have already shifted for at least a few weeks! I guess until April 343i and MS were planning to launch the beta and present the game in the second half of June.
