Since halo infinite’s multiplayer is going to be free, i think that they might go with the usual “pay to win” category. it might be similar to call of duty warzone, how you have to pay for the campaign but the battle royal is free. Sadly, i think its over-hyped and that its not going to be good, losing glory from the old titles. thanks for your time.
“Pay to win” means something different than, “MP is free, pay for campaign.”
We’ve already said that you won’t be able to buy powerups or anything of the sort.
Pay to win means you can pay for items that give you an advantage over other players. Everything shown does not indicate pay to win
Okay, so Warzone could technically be considered pay to win since the grinds for certain weapon are so ridiculously hard to do in BR that you would feel forced to buy MW/BO to unlock them faster. BUT, that’s not the case here, they have already stated that the buyable things are cosmetic, so unless you’re one of those guys that believe “skins give an advantage cause they can look intimidating”, you shouldn’t worry too much.
So far I have faith in 343i.

Yes, 343 have made it very clear, the battle pass will not give you an advantage, but just make you look snazzy.
After EA’s Battlefront 2 I think most companies have wisely decided to steer clear of P2W. Pretty sure everything that can be unlocked is purely cosmetic as well.

“a sense of pride and accomplishment” becoming the most downvoted comment on reddit (667k aggregate downvotes) will be in a game design book someday and I can’t wait.
no
I have to disagree with your statement. If anything over the last 12 months 343 have gone out of their way to be transparent and assure us that they’re taking a player focused approach to Infinite. I can’t see the game being anywhere near pay to win. Everything seems to be purely cosmetic.
I think the overall outrage over Month of Mythic in H5 was enough of a lesson that those kinds of events are not what we want to see.

You only pay for the campaign.
Multiplayer is free for everyone.
There is no battle-royale.
The only things you pay for are the battle pass and other customisation options.
The battle pass has a free & a paid tier, you’re. It directed into buying it. It will also be available forever, you could use the Season 1 battle pass even if the game is now on season 11.
There is no “pay to win” aspect of the game. Therefore nothing to fear
Honestly it doesn’t seem like it will be P2W. All you’d really be paying for is cosmetics.
REQ system is pay to win, let’s face it. Warzone was a bit of a joke playlist and I still avoid it to this day.
It looks like none of this will be in Halo Infinite and there will not be a gametype that works like this. They would be better off having a system where you get 1,000 points and can spend them on what you want every game if Warzone returns or your performance earns more points to spend on what you want sort of how Battlefront games operate. That way if you want a tank you can have one but will have few points left or you could order yourself 5x snipers throughout the game or something. Would be a much fairer way of doing it.
I’m not bothered about Warzone personally. The base game will be balanced 4 Vs 4 starts with no loadouts and i cannot be more thrilled about it.
Unless some armor coatings give you an advantage - like if there is an active-camo coating, you won’t be able to blame someone for winning just because they bought a lot of battle passes and/or coatings.

Shouldn’t do as enemies are outlined and you will likely be able to pick the colour so no advantages even with the most blended of armour coatings.

Amen!

OP, did you come to cast shade or to actually make some arguments for why you feel this way? Because there’s literally nothing in what 343 have said which leads me to think that at all.
Honestly I think 343’s approach to F2P MP is perfect and fits so well with Game Pass as a strategic approach
They’ve already confirmed the mtx will be cosmetic only. So no it’s not p2w.
343 seems dialed in on how to be fan friendly and accessible. They’re not going to do any of that predatory nonsense like loot boxes or locking the best guns/equipment behind a paywall or skins that give you an advantage.
If this were Activision, sure, be worried, but I believe 343 knows they have to please the base as much as possible this time and p2w isn’t the way to do that.
I thought this was already settled like a few months ago lol
I think they will add cosmetics but not ptw
So long Microtransactions are only cosmetic then it can’t be pay-to-win. In fact F2P is sort of the exact opposite, and while some F2P models include a P2W that doesnt mean that P2W is inherently a part of any F2P system as inferred.
I am still unhappy about Microtransaction being in the game, but WZ in H5 was only slightly P2W to begin with, and that sort of fit for the fairly casual mode that it was. From everything we have seen about Infinite so far I think we can pretty confidently claim that Infinite wont be a P2W game.
