Will halo ever be the same again?

Is it time to put the good name halo down and let it rest in peace? Insted of destroying the once great halos game name.

Not had a good halo game since halo 3 They have made this game like COD in space and messed up.

Will halo ever recover from this?

Since Halo 3, bungie made Halo 3 ODST ← i enjoyed very much… they made halo reach ← i enjoyed it very much.

Now 343i made Halo 4 <- i’m enjoying this so much.

Let me guess… you wanted halo 4 to be copy past from halo 3?

Hey OP did you just copy what was already posted in the Call of Duty forums and swapped around “Halo” with “CoD”?

Games steal ideas from each other. That’s how the gaming industry works.

Hal o4 is an awesome game. Just repetitive, that’s all. Whomever, we still have more 2-5 Halo games incoming. Halo 4 is supposed to be an entirely different game from i’ts precestors.

Let me guess… you wanted halo 4 to be copy past from halo 3?

Is COD not just a so called copy past?

NO

Is halo 2 to halo 3 so called copy past?

NO

The game play is the same and simple, they just add new things.

This game has gone away from being halo to being COD in space.

Halo 4 still retains the core gameplay mechanics of its predecessors. It’s simply a logical evolution of the Halo experience.

Spawning with a Shotgun with Headshot potential would like a word with you.

I never said the game didn’t have flaws (Boltshot is balanced btw, power weapons still beat it easily. The DMR is OP, however), I said that Halo 4 is just a logical evolution of what we’ve had in the past. No game is perfect.

> Halo 4 still retains the core gameplay mechanics of its predecessors. It’s simply a logical evolution of the Halo experience.

It absolutely does not. I’m really interested what the “core gameplay mechanics” of Halo are to you.

Perhaps you should understand what Halo “was”

Halo:

The game where each player spawned exactly the same after dying. Every player would have the same weapon, the same player traits, no advantages over each other, conflicts would be down to skill and skill only.

There was none of this “oh I can reload faster than you, Oh I have infinite sprint, Oh I’m immune to Flinch/De-scoping, Oh I get power weapons quicker than you, Oh my Shields regenerate faster than yours, Oh I get to keep my Radar while scoped”

There was none of this "Oh I can completely break map control with my Jet pack, there was none of this “Oh I can see you through a wall” There was no “Oh I can become invisible at any given time as many times as I want”

Map control, timings and positioning were ESSENTIAL. There was none of this “Oh I can just keep dying and get a free Incineration Cannon whilst the guy who got 15 kills and no deaths only gets speed boost” Power weapons required team coordination, it required you to beat a player to them, it required you to beat someone in a fire fight to attain the weapon. It created a flow where different parts of the map were used, this game doesn’t have that.

There was none of this “second chance” rubbish where you could just break free from combat and run away at the click of a button. If you were caught out of position, were out skilled in a fire fight, or you just weren’t playing good enough, you would die, and that was it. Now you can just Run away!

Dying actually meant something, it was a punishment for not playing good enough, you had to wait to respawn, NO ONE had a problem with this. Instant respawns also break map control.

Need I go on?

The Core of this game isn’t in any way Identical to the previous games, Even Reach retained most of Halo’s core.

Nobody, nobody, nobody ever wanted that. Bloody hell. All people want is Halo 3, APART from the rubbish forge, the rubbish strafe, the rubbish gun mechanics, the rubbish gun balance, the rubbish dual wielding, the rubbish Battle rifle spread, and that’s all Halo 3 was. So, in conclusion: what people want isn’t Halo 3 remade. People want a customisable, consistent, quality arena shooter, free from interference by stupid, unnecessary gimmicks.

Get this through your skull, will you? Please?

Things will never be the same.
That’s just the way it is.
Oh yeah.

So was armorlock!

It’s evolution, people. Adapt.

Games get worse, players get better! woopdidoo!

No, I’d rather see a complete trilogy so I can see where the campaigns take me next.

I’m enjoying the game.

Tears…glorious tears!

Halo will not be put to rest. It is in the rightful possession of the casuals now. And we will never let it go.

A lot of people called Halo 3 a Halo 2 copy, Oh well, Games change, If you don’t like It, don’t play It, simple, there’s still a Halo 3 there, If you like H3 that much, go and play It, If I wanted a copy of Halo 3…well I just oh… play Halo 3.

> Halo 4 still retains the core gameplay mechanics of its predecessors. It’s simply a logical evolution of the Halo experience.

Not really. Where is the fixed weapons on map with respawn mechanic? Where is the “everyone spawns evenly” mechanic? I could go on and on but there are threads everywhere which disprove that statement of yours.

It’s not a ‘logical’ “evolution” either, it’s simply ripping off elements from other games that don’t belong here. What you call evolution is actually homogenization, which is a very scary thing in the video game world. If this trend continues, some day in the not too distant future every first person shooter will simply be a re-skinned version of every other. That’s the danger of doing what 343i is doing.

COD does kill streaks and perks much better than Halo does, so why try to beat them at their own game? All you do is make a crappy watered down version of a COD mechanic which has negative implications for all of the other mechanics which are unique to Halo, hence injuring the very foundation the game is built on.

Less is more. At the end of the day, most of the new things introduced are silly gimmicks which don’t positively affect the game.

And equally, if I wanted a copy of COD games, I’d just go play COD. Your own logic just showed why Halo 4 is bad. Why can’t Halo just be Halo and not every other generic shooter out there?

Not all, grav hammer is beaten by boltshot, and energy sword is beaten by boltshot. Also secondaries shouldn’t even be considered anywhere near comparable to a power weapon.

if someone would add sprint to H3 I would play it…
