With Halo 5 having dedicated servers for Custom Games, will there be a way for the community to search and or name their lobbies so other players round the globe/region can play what community made maps/game-types they want to play? For example finding a lobby someone is hosting named “Infection Only”, “BTB Objective”, “Oddball Only [8-12 Players]”, “HCS Skrim [clan A vs clan B]”, “Machinima [insert title here] scene 5”, “Mini-Games!”, etc. Have the ability to insert what maps and game-types you want in your very own map rotation. Be able to set passwords and save slots in the lobby for your friends. Wished you guys could set up something like this in Halo 5 that would help the community and myself to find and play consistent lobbies and bring the community as well as the forging community together. Looking forward with Halo 5 this fall, thanks 343i.
I think this is a really solid idea and I support the idea. I don’t think we will see it in Halo 5 though which is a shame because it would definitely increase game longevity. It would a great way to spread new gametypes by word of mouth that could ultimately become the next Infection or Grifball and like you said it would allow for competitive skrimmages and things of the sort. Really hope 343 sees this because this could be huge if implemented.
Other games that have had a huge success with this kind of feature share some similarities ie
A great community who loves making and playing custom content
A great tool for creating custom content
But they had one other thing that halo 5 might not (and hopefully does) have: A way for the community to play and curate and share the playing of that content publicly (a custom games browser, like what you described)
Examples being Starcraft II, Warcraft 3, far cry 2, Jedi academy, hell the entire concept of Garry’s mod revolves around this structure.
I brought this up as a possibility in another thread, along with the possibility of an entire playlist built around community content, but as was said above we would know by now if this was the case (unless 343i is deliberately trying to keep it quiet, which wouldn’t make much sense.)
Something to be patched in at a later date or done in Halo 6, perhaps, but it certainly won’t be in Guardians, at least not on launch.

you might be wrong there jake. i would love to see a custom game browser in halo.
it should in my opinion; only show lobbies that are ‘open’, lobbies that are ‘friends/invite only’ don’t show up. forge lobbies don’t show up. in post game carnage report you should have ‘press x to save map’ and ‘press y to save gametype’ options (or at least the function to view past games and save them from there). when a lobby closes or goes private it comes off the list, the game host (obviously the person who started the lobby… the server is connection host now) has the ability to lock the game and remove people who are trolling/obnoxious.

It may not be in Halo 5 day one or at all but it would be incredible if its a possible download update for the next months. Imagine the posibilities we could have here. Wished it would be placed with MCC too but well see.
The addition of a custom game browser in Halo 5 would revilutionize the way we play custom games. Not only that but it would allow everyone to play it, instead of just people with friends. Think about the auduence of gamers who can play custom games because they have no friends. A browser would alleviate the problem !

That’s because this was never stated. They have been silent on forge since the announcement of Halo 5!

Supposedly there is going to be an unveil of forge starting next week according to Ready Up Live. Let’s hope for a custom game browser reveal as well!

Same here, if we had a custom game browser it will definitely bring all of the halo communities together competitive, forge, machinima makers, all of streamers, everyone. Making or rather build it to great lengths than any other Halo game has gone before.
