Will halo 5 ever be on MCC?

It’s been about 8 years since Halo 5 came out, and I doubt many people are still buying it, so will 343 ever add it to MCC? If I remember correctly they added reach to MCC at one point so could they do the same for 5? Also will they ever add Infinite too in the future? Or are they done adding games to MCC. Also please no “It’s the Master Chief Collection not the Spartan Locke Collection!” responses.

Here’s your answer: NO. Halo 5 will NEVER be on MCC because not only would MCC’s file size become beyond insanely big (200+ GB), but it would also become seriously unstable to the point of being unplayable. Halo 5 is best off being a standalone port separate from MCC.

Yeah I definetly agree. Its a huge game and still isnt perfect. Maype they could do it if they threw it into a compactor and also stripped some features… But I dont see it going anywhere RN. (Spartan Fred Rules)

Halo: Reach is one of the most beloved games in the franchise, whereas Halo 5: Guardians is the most hated. That’s why Halo: Reach is in the collection and Halo 5: Guardians is not.

Halo 5: Guardians also has a lot more problems than just it’s enormous file size, or the fact that you spend most of the campaign play as Locke… it has pay-2-win microtransactions with RNG lootboxes.

343 would have to completely remove those in order to port the game to MCC and replace them with a new system, but REQ packs are too tightly intertwined with the Warzone mode for that to happen. Armor sets and weapon skins could be integrated into the Catalogue and Exchange easy enough… but weapon and vehicle REQs for Warzone? They’d have to build a new system from the ground up.

And in the end, it wouldn’t be worth it. Arena multiplayer is a sweaty clusterfrick of pistol spam and players running around like headless chickens looking for free Spartan Charge kills. Warzone is a pay-2-win version of Big Team Battle where the outcome of every match is determined by which team has the best REQs. Warzone Firefight is full of bullet-sponge enemies and literal aimbots with no customization options, no single player, and no offline play.

I’d rather 343 work on improving the 6 games we already have than waste time porting a mediocre game that only a small vocal minority of the community wants. There’s still so much they can do with MCC that would be way better than adding another game, like AI bots for multiplayer across all games, scripting in Forge, and mod support for Xbox a la Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition. I’d rather they focus on that than waste whatever time and resources they have left trying to fix the most hated Halo game ever made.

Reach was a special fringe case that got added purely out of luck and necessity; thanks mostly to the needed rework of Halo 3 ODST’s multiplayer component, as well as being a strategic marketing tactic for Halo infinite and MCC’s PC port. Its also of note that unlike Halo 5, Reach was a smaller game that preceded both Halo 4 and H2AMP, of which both directly based their engines off of (its also thanks to that we got escalation slayer for all 3).

It cannot be stressed enough that no title added to the MCC has released after the MCC; furthermore, no game collection ever has historically added titles released after the collections in question. its beyond unlikely the MCC will buck that trend, since it has more to do with the monetary gain of future releases than the hardware limitations.

Halo 5 should not be added to MCC as their is much more potential success overall in having it be a standalone (already half done too). Its also utterly insane to be asking for Infinite to be added to MCC since its literally only 1 year since it released.

Halo 5 most hated? Then why does Halo Infinite have a LOWER review rating than Halo 5 on the Xbox Store?

would be good, maybe 343 will return the rotational playlists at least

Halo 5 should get its own PC release on MS store and steam, alongside with performance updates for Series S/X, mod support and bug fixes.
But it should be a standalone, NOT an addition to MCC

I was saying in the way future when halo 7 or 8 is out for it to be added, but now that I’ve seen some of the replies here, thats never going to happen.

Honestly, no, that shouldn’t happen. If a game cant be ported to something without being stripped of features, then it’s not a port you should do, hence why H5 should be a standalone PC port and these H5 in MCC threads should be auto locked.

343 have already confirmed they do not plan on adding H5 to the MCC. If you want H5 to be more accessable ask for a steam port with Steam Deck support and you’ll have one of the best Halo games for handheld. MCC’s anti-cheat is pretty much the reason steam deck isn’t fully supported atm, and it seems like either steam or 343 aren’t too eager to fix that issue.

We can only but hope and keep our fingers crossed that it would make it’s way to MCC one day.

It won’t, it’s been confirmed NOT to be coming to MCC and 343 have no plans on adding it. It also doesn’t NEED to be part of MCC, you SHOULD be asking for a steam port instead.

I like that idea for sure!

This does not make any sense because you can download each game in the MCC individually

to add to this, how i always saw it, MCC was made to port all the OG Xbox and Xbox 360 halo games to one game on one spot. it wouldn’t make much sense to port 5 to MCC…but idk if anyone knows but there is a tab somewhere that sends you over to 5…so its kind of on mcc as well?

you would get better bang for your buck if they did a similar treatment with 5 like they did with MCC; put a skeleton crew to work on bug fixing and overhauling everything. remember MCC not only had poor matchmaking, but there was no progression system at all nor challenges (if I’m right) nor event customization (unless you count selecting what your entire armor would be as customizing…oh no, not picking pieces of the armor, no. I’m talking the ENTIRE SET). if they did that with 5, people might come back. like the req system in WZ being a consumable system to an unlock system (I have to gather my notes but I fleshed it out to some degree)

THIS. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Screw Halo 5.

Poppycock! As you can see on https://forums.halowaypoint.com/t/poll-which-343-era-game-modes-do-you-like/562837?u=drad2011 this is one of the best gamemodes in halo!

I try not to be literal, however the poll asks which “343 Era” game modes do you like, not which game mode is the best in halo

[I’m gonna probably reiterate @Aurik_Kal_Durin btw]

IMO OG Firefight was far superior then WZFF. the player could customize it to almost any degree on customs. you wanted bottomless clips rockets and snipers, jetpacks that don’t run out, and only hunters spawn? you got it. you want to make gruntpacolypse for the entire game? you got it. there were different game subtypes, there was vs. mode.

Whereas WZFF, you had 5 minutes to finish a wave, have only 5 waves, its objective based rather than kill base (meaning theoretically the wave can just keep going until you finish the objective). and the last 2 waves’ objectives are so reliant on high tier gear or high tier teamwork (which is hard to find w/ randoms) that it turns to bs. not to mention that some waves are bs, such as Attack on Sanctum; you either have a wave of 6 mythic knights or a wave of 3 warden eternals. with both waves having swarms of watchers that could full heal them. and these enemies tank everything. In turn, you be at 20 seconds left, a few shots left, and some OwO would fly in and full heal warden’s eternal. heck if you have 7/8 or 6/8 players in the match, its basically an automatic game over.

forgot to add you also have the issue with Warzone where if you die, unless someone is there you might as well say good bye to whatever power weapon/vehicle, cause the despawn is like 10 seconds.
