Will Halo 5 Die after Infinites Release?

Hi gang, curious to know what you “feel” will happen to Halo 5 after Infinite is released? Will it quickly die and become just a shell of a game for those who wish to stay and play or will it continue on for years to come? Also what will you do should you purchase Infinite, will you keep H5 installed ‘just in case’ or for ‘old times sake’ or will you uninstall it and move on to a new chapter of your Halo adventure? Me I’ll be purchasing Infinite and looking forward to that new road in the Halo highway and uninstalling H5 and saying thanks for the memories…

Likely no, it won’t “die” not 100% anyway, Halo 4 is still played online despite 5’s existence and there’s always going to be completionists going for SR 152.

Now the large file size might be the biggest culprit in H5’s downfall when you’re installing Infinite. I might uninstall 5 if I go 6+ months without playing it like I did MCC once I understood Halo 5’s gameplay.

I think it’ll be like halo 4, still being played after words but not really known or talked about anymore.
For me as soon as infinite is out halo 5 will be out of my life and I will happily take 100 gigs back

I would say maybe like Reach’s instance. Not many people play it but a fair amount still play it to keep the servers going. So, I feel with Halo 5, once Infinite drops, Halo 5’s population will go down but not die off entirely. Besides…not everyone will be able to get Infinite as soon as it’s out…be it for financial reasons or what have you. So, people will still need something to play until they can get their hands on it. Like I said, Halo Reach still has a surprisingly high player count being as old as it is…but it’s not as high as some of the newer games. But I think it might be higher than the player count for Halo 4.

I hope not as i enjoy halo 5s moltuplayer

Just depends on how good infinite is if 343 screws up infinite and it isn’t a complete game then no halo 5 will probably not die

I think MCC will have a better chance at surviving after Halo Infinite comes out

Well of course, because it encompasses old Halo games and passionate older players will always go back to it. But H5 won’t be 100% dead once H6 comes out the same way no Halo was killed after a release.

100% agree

It probably will die off.
Me, I’ll probably keep it just because I still have space for it on my hard drive

I’m sure there will be a group of people who stick with Halo 5 for years to come, but the population will probably drop off drastically. I will uninstall H5 just because it takes up so much memory. H5 is one of my favorite games of all time, but if I’m not playing it regularly I can’t justify taking up three games worth of memory

I really seem to have a lot of issues with MCC. I have had games where I was doing the playlist stuff and would save a mission and then come back an hour or so later, start the mission, and it wouldn’t even load up. It would start to load but you would only get like the skybox of the level to load in and then the game would crash.

A lot has been fixed since the game was released but there are still issues with it.

Takes up too much space or i would probably keep it. Yet no reason to play it if infinite is good. My as well toss it on the MCC as well. Gives players the option to have it installed or not & can just access it through there.

I honestly don’t see why they would do that as both games are massive on their own. I have games like Skyrim, Fallout 4, and GTA 5, and like those three games combined still take up less space than Halo 5.

It depends on Halo: Infinite, if Infinite is really good and fun then I’ll probably stick to that game after it’s released. But if it’s bad then I’ll be staying on Halo 5.

Lots of people still play Master Chief Collection which has Halo 1/2/3/4 because they don’t like Halo 5 that much or they prefer the older games. But I don’t think Halo 5 will “die” unless Infinite comes out and just absolutely blows everyone away, which is HIGHLY DOUBTFUL but possible. With 343’s latest releases we just don’t know what to expect with Halo: Infinite until we get more information…

People will still play the game for one reason or another but for me I’ll come back to it every now and then like I do with the other Halo titles. :sunglasses: But if 343 never fixes all that stupid screen freezing crap in custom games then I’ll never come back to the game. :rage:

I think it’s still too early to say given that we have only seen a small cinematic trailer. Once the gameplay is released I think we can make a better conclusion.

Don’t think any games population really completely dies but I’m pretty certain Halo 5’s population will take a big hit when Infinite releases due to fans waiting on MCC to be fixed, Infinite plus I still feel like my only reason to keep playing H5 is for the 152 rank, I only have 2 more to go so I’m not sure I’d rush to return either. If Infinite is really good then I will probably stick to it but if it’s as stressful as H5 then I’m not sure what I will be doing then but I suspect either way Infinite will take most of my time away.

Nope. It, like Halo 2, had multiplayer many people enjoy, and Halo 2 was alive for a long time. So, no, it won’t die upon Halo Infinite’s release.
