Now I know this probably won’t happen but back when MCC released it had it’s fair share of challenges until 343 returned to it and upgraded it to its current state. I wonder if, after Infinite, 343 could move from the MCC and upgrade Halo 5 in a similar way or even support both. They basically have a spin off game they could revitalize between when Infinite releases and the next Halo release. I for one would love to see tweaks the the campaign either sweeping or via skulls. They could swap some of the weapons in campaign with req variants to keep in line with Infinite’s artstyle (Recon sight DMR, rocket launcher, Halo 2 BR). They could definitely use req variants to create some gameplay variations between Chief and Locke that should have been there initially. Perhaps disable the revive system too? Yeah it ain’t happening but still Im a sucker for redemption stories like MCC.
Unlikely, MCC only got support because of its disastrous launch. Once they fixed the game people started coming back to it.
Halo 5’s launch wasn’t a complete mess but it was lacking some content like forge etc. The free updates we got to the game over time were actually used as inspiration for MCC’s seasons that started to release in 2019 when they added PC support for the game.
MCC found itself in a very unique position where 343i felt they needed to fix the game for the fans as it was meant to be a love letter to the franchise, when it was broken it upset a lot of people. Going back and fixing it was their way of showing they weren’t going to abandon the project.
Halo 5 on the other hand has already had its fair share of content updates & patches over time. It’s run it’s course.
With Halo Infinite being free to play too, I can’t imagine the population of Halo 5 being very big.
I’m not a developer by any means but I do understand resource management. Is it worth splitting part of your live team to add content and fixes to a game people have already moved away from? Especially when the game isn’t fundamentally broken in anyway. I’d say probably not.
Dont get me wrong, I’m sure there’s plenty they could do to Halo 5 to make it better and such. I’d love that to happen BUT realistically I can’t see it ever being the case.
Halo Infinite is the first step forward and the barrier to entry for anyone who games is literally nothing. Older games have to get left behind eventually, that’s likely the case for Halo 5 very soon.
yes agree i do not see anything happening to halo 5 no for another 5 to 6 yrs
Frankly i think halo 5 is done. The people who still like it will probably not lose interest due to lack of new content, as i don’t think anyone expects 343 to go back to supporting such a flawed game, that for all intents and purposes, has enough content. I also don’t think new armor or reqs or whatever they would add would bring many people back to the game. Too little, WAY too late for people who have moved on to MCC to care. Also, this isn’t to say that the people still interested in 5 will never lose that interest, i think it’s been long enough without and update to say that it won’t be THE reason fans of the game stick around.

I am no developer either so my opinion probably only goes so far, but this seems like the most realistic take. I would love H5 to get the revamp that saved MCC, but it never needed the revamp as badly for the MP (sure some tweaks here and there would be nice, but the game isn’t broken or anything) and there isn’t much that could be done with the campaign.
Honestly its probably for the best, returning to H5 would mean pulling resources away from keeping Infinite great and relevant going forward which should be the more important goal imo.
Halo 6 infinite is gonna be the hot new game. So Halo 5 will not get any new updates. Halo MCC will still get updates because of it being an easy way to play classic halo games. Does that possibly mean they could condense Halo 5 into halo MCC? If so I would guess it would really just be for the campaign.
I think it’s pretty clear they are done with everything Halo 5 with the lack of PC port and no X/S optimization. We have a whole new wave of people coming into halo thanks to infinite and they are doing nothing for 5.
I hope that 343 devotes most of their efforts for Infinite to make sure it’s as strong as it can be. Who knows how things will play out though. I would have never expected the MCC from 2014 to be at the current state it is now.
I think MCC will stay the MCC after Infinite’s release.
They have not touched any parts of 5 for so long now. Its properly abandoned.
It won’t sadly.
I dont see anything being done with Halo 5. It aint had any updates in years.
My thought is halo 5 in its current state probably wont get much in the way of major updates. Now if they change their mind and fold it into the mcc and/or fully update and optimize it for series x, then id say maybe.
I think you all make very good points. I love MCC so I hope it continues to grow and evolve after Infinite. Honestly the only thing I can think of is them bringing over the campaign to MCC with new Skulls … m a y b e. But I agree I dont think Halo 5 itself will ever get touched again beyond playlist updates.

The community supported H5 with the forge maps, but once infinite is released, H5 will be as dead as its launch.
I think that Halo 5 is probably done when it comes to updates, at least for the next few years. But I can see Halo 5 being added to the MCC in the next 3 or so years, after Infinites been out a while.
Absolutely not. Halo 5 won’t be getting the type of support MCC has received. Highly doubt Halo 5 will even be somewhat relevant in the near future.
Dang, I spent so much time in H5, easily over 90 days worth. Even though the game drove me insane at times, it still has a place in my heart.
I see it as very unlikely.I’d really like it to be that way, but realistically, I don’t think it’s going to happen.
I loved Halo 5 for his advanced mobilities and I think it would stay better than Halo Infinite on this domain. If enough people continue to play it this next years, maybe we can hope 343 regive it some interest. The most important things to do would be to bring the game on PC, that wouldbring a lot of players

I’d be happy if 343 did that, I hope this can happen eventually.
