Will halo 4's MM get repetitive quick?

I’m starting to think that since there is no ranking system in halo 4 that the
progression system will get very boring after a couple months.

We already seen this in reach and many also agree that ranks meant nothing in reach so
why would “SR-50” be any different.

People that are a higher spartan rating are going to compare their rank the same way they
did in reach. Halo 2 and 3 had a great thing going with both a ranking system and a
progression system.

Yes they were flawed but a ranking system is needed so the game doesn’t get boring quick. I
loved playing halo reach and it did get very repetitive.

So after everyone gets used to playing it for a few months beating the campaign, spartan ops and playing tons of MM, whats going to keep them hooked?

We all need to get past this “oh its unfair for the casuals” or “casuals get a progression system
and the competitive players get nothing”. This issue is much more bigger than that. This is a huge
deal to everyone.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want everyone to enjoy the game and not just some portions of the community. I’m not sure whats
going to keep me playing the game after i beat the campaign, spartan ops or when i play tons
of the multiplayer.

I really wish that there was a halo 2 like ranking system but way more improved. I want to play halo and enjoy all aspects of the experience and i feel that part of the classic experience is missing.

Nothing was better than that 49-49 scenario when both teams are a kill away from ranking up and your
heart is beating fast from the pressure. I’m sure many of you have felt that at one point in a rank
setting.

I want a system back that will keep me hooked and not just another reach repeat. I know some of you
might think I’m crazy but this is just my opinion of how i think halo 4 will turn out if nothing
is changed later on.

Kiki wolfkill in the latest bulletin did say that its possible to add something at a later time that
could involve something about a ranking system. So if there is no hope now then maybe there might be at a later time.

Please discuss your feelings about the subject and how a ranking system could benefit halo 4. I don’t see how it could hurt the game when many were pleased with it in halo 2 and 3.

Yes

I’ll keep playing If it plays as good as it looks I’m not big on ranking anymore. It’s just another stat. What matters to me is WINNING.

Winning is a stat.

I will keep saying it:

Not including a ranking system in HALO is like banks giving out loans to people that they knew weren’t able to pay them back. Plain and simple concept. Drove us into recession.

No, to prevent the game being repetitive we need to regularly update the game. Create new gametypes, alter old ones, adjust maps, re-arrange old maps.

That’s what the real problem with Reach was. Long stretches of time with no updates or niche updates for playlists or updates that didn’t change very much.

Halo has always had a vast amount of options and with Forge, an infinate amount of different maps that we can change that doesn’t require a title update that costs $40,000 to process. Yet, nobody wants to acknowledge them.

If it was up to me I’d be aiming to update Reach at least once a month, regardless of how small the change is.

winning is a huge thing but its not a big deal if their is no reason to win lol

No incentive to win means that you achieve nothing for winning.

So its going to be like reach where personal stats are more important than
winning or losing.

actually some people just like winning for the sake of winning. Some are just more competitive than others in that regard.

> actually some people just like winning for the sake of winning. Some are just more competitive than others in that regard.

exactly lol. People who don’t want a ranking system whine more than anyone when a ranking
system doesn’t hurt anyone. If you don’t like playing ranked playlists then you can simply just play the casual progression system. Its very simple.

Everyone would be happy

The next diablo 3. -_-

and to the guy that said “if it plays as good as it looks”

hopefully it does, cause lets not forget 4-5 months after halo is released graphics will be better. Thus it wont look as good. The staying power in past halos has been the quality of gameplay and for christ sakes the RANKS.

Except in Diablo 3 when you were grinding you could find gear to sell for real money so was not as redundant.

Unless rank or clans/groups gets added shortly after the release it is looking like its going to be around the same as Reach where I got bored after about 3 or so months since there was literally nothing left to go for or it was way out of my reach and not worth it.

I’m just going to say that I only read the thread title (loldidntread.gif) but this seems like something you can only find out after a month or more of playing time.

EDIT: Every analogy that users of waypoint used to describe the ranking system is doodoo. That is all.

It happens with all games…rank or no rank.

I’ll still play even if it does.

That’s just… an awful analogy. And obviously trying to troll people into some political discussion.

Anywho, so long as matches are fair, and maps don’t suck, and gametypes are fun, I think the game will keep people hooked for a long time.

I find winnning to be a reward in and of itself.

diablo 3 is about as redundant as redundant gets. My main point in bringing up that game was the massive MASSIVE population drop after people realized what a new developer did to their beloved franchise.

but on the rest im with you all the way man. Now mind you im not one of the radicals who is gonna “cancel his preorder” or anything. But I have this sick feeling in my stomach that after campaign, spartan ops and a month of war games Ill start to become bored…then angry…then pissed…then just sad that halo isnt what it used to be.

Kids nowadays need to be given gold stars for accomplishments online. Winning can’t just be rewarding.

master belittler
oh how I envy you and your maturity for not wanting visible ranks.
you are my hero. sarcasm

visible ranks would not effect you at all. Yet you feel the need to voice your downtalking twards people who enjoy them.

Don’t worry, 343 is going to add unlockable colours now! Get blue for your spartan at SR-4, red for SR-5, and so on! Because unlocking emblems wasn’t enough! This will keep everyone hooked! Who needs a good ranking system when you get to unlock things just like in CoD! /sarcasm
