With all the hubub with this new Halo 4 news (bad news if you ask me) it seems that A LOT of balancing will be needed. I was hoping that the old Halo multiplayer feeling could be revamped and brought back to life, better than ever with better balanced AA’s and all that jazz, but this news makes me wonder, will it just end up like Halo Reach, which lost a lot of it’s population within a few months? Halo Reach took a big step with AA’s, and look where that got it, and now Halo 4 is taking a huge step with specializations.
Quite risky, no?
I know it sounds a bit silly, “What? a few little specializations ruining an entire game? Bah!”, but I am very worried for Halo 4’s multiplayer now. Does anyone else feel the same? What are your thoughts on this?

Admittingly, I’m a little worried about it too. But I have faith that 343i will work it all out, they’ve had 4 years after all.

I’m considering putting a massive investment into this game, and I don’t want it to be a disappointment. Hopefully 343 will listen to some of the ideas the positive and intelligent people have on this forum.
You mean where it was a good game but so many people couldn’t adapt to the changes and the different way to play Halo that was more team focused then previous Lone Wolf gameplay and spent their time crying and complaining on the forums until they got a TU to push it back towards that form of playstyle that they ultimately weren’t happy with?
Or maybe you’re talking about how Reach had much more competition then previous Halo games had which were much bigger draws for other players? If anything Halo 4 will have a much harder time with the much bigger amount of titles it has to go up against.
At least noobs won’t have the Specializations for a while because they won’t reach the top rank so that might keep me in it that I know I won’t have to deal with noobs that much because I’ll have my specializations to take out the noobs quicker.

Good points, but I am just hoping that people aren’t turned off by these specializations, I hope they can suck it up and adapt. I also hope that specializations don’t break the game.

I really just said a big Thank You. A person that actually has common sense. But I will say the Beta was better to a degree but we have the community to blame for the changes to final product

Lol, I’m also worried too. And you’ll probably never get that from me ever again. I’m not usually worried about things…
idk… Halo, to me and many others, has always been about starting out with equal weapons, and equal chance to grab control of the map and weapons.
343 has been butchering this equality. Maybe it makes the vanilla game more fun, idk. I’m not in it for casual fun though. I like to play semi-competitively, and the only way I can see of doing that in Halo 4, will be by changing the settings. That’s a huge damper on fun for me.
These armor proficiencies are just… No. No. They were talked about on the bungie forums for the longest time, and ALWAYS shot down. Always. Why would 343 go with something so hated?
idk man… I’ve already paid off my LE version at Gamestop, so there isn’t much going back unless I want to lose money. I’ll play Halo 4 for the campaign, a bit of multiplayer, not much though with what I’ve seen. Spartan Ops looks ok though.

Again, there are Classic playlists. For the ones who don’t like all the new changes.

I have to disagree. As much as I want to praise reach for being a great halo game it just wasn’t. I know op isn’t bashing Reach, but I think people should understand that the game turning out like reach overall, just isn’t good. Not only did Reach lack. Campaign deliverance, but its multiplayer is “decent” and firefight sucked balls. The game just doesn’t deliver all that much. Somewhat enjoyable still. Bad vehicle gameplay and other stuff I don’t feel like pointing out.
Reach felt very unfinished.
No I don’t want this to turn out like Reach. So I respectfully disagree.
With the facts being that these specializations will take considerable playing time to acquire, that they will have a marginal effect on overall gameplay, and that there will be classic playlists with specializations most likely removed, I’ve went from worried to cautiously optimistic. I’m not a fan of the concept, but as long as they are balanced as to not break gameplay, then I trust 343i with this ambitious addition. All of this “Halo is dead!” and “343 has ruined Halo!” nonsense is totally unnecessary, especially since most of the people saying these things didn’t take the time to learn all the details and that we have yet to see how the final game truly plays.

But unless we’ve seen something from 343 saying they’re going to fix trueskill (Link please?), that means if I start playing a week late I’ll have to fight people with major advantages over me…
