WILL HALO 4 HAVE THIS FINALLY?

A boat for maps with water on them. This would make a new flavor in customs. This would be cool if they had like three different sized boats like a small jet ski(two seats). Also a small platform based boat that would go medium/slow. Lastly a elephant type boat that goes slow. I know that 343 doesn’t have lots of time to implement this but i’d love you guys forever <3

thoughts?

It sounds fun but it seems unlikely and a bit pointless, Halo is a combat game, not a boat game.

I doubt it’ll ship with the game, but this would be the prefect addition to any Forge World DLC.

What’s the meaningful distinction between land-based and water-based vehicles?

Also, Bungie were initially going to put boats in Reach, they showed it as one of their cut ideas during their PAX presentation, along with epic space battles, a desert Hog army and the Global Battle inside a city. Surely 343 will remember these ideas and try to add at least some of them to Halo 4, similarly to how they eventually got round to implementing a survival mode.

I see what you did there haha XD

Bungie have been experimenting with water based vehicles as far back as Halo 2 but they could never make it work. Obviously if 343 can make it work then they may as well add it.

If that feature were added, we most likely wouldn’t have got Forge World and other great things in Reach, I personally prefer 343i focus on the more important stuff like getting all the Multiplayer levels and Campaign levels in that they wanted, rather than having to cut good stuff for fun stuff.

Naturally. I don’t want another Reach campaign with all the best ideas cut. But you can’t deny, this would make for an amazing first DLC.

It would but only for some, for DLC I would like to see maps and hopefully Firefight maps too, not just a few water maps with some boats.

I’m hoping 343 up the DLC to 4 maps per bundle. A Firefight map, a Forge World and two regular multiplayer spaces. All it requires is for some (or even just one) Forge World to have a reasonable amount of water and boats would be a viable option. Especially if there was, say, a swampy Forge World. With most of the map around water level there’d be tonnes of potential map spaces that could include boats.

A Forge World type thing is likely to already be on the disk.

Well, unless they’re as lazy with their DLC as Bungie was towards the end, this hardly means there can’t be any more Forge Worlds. I mean, just having one palette to Forge with the whole time did get a little bland, no?

I would LOVE to see boats in the game, but if they plan on making them Warthogs on flat water than they shouldn’t waste their time. They have to make it fundamentally different or it has no point and its just a lousy gimmick. If they would do something similar to the prototype Bungie had in Reach that would be really awesome (riding the waves and all).

How about making a boat, there could be Different skins for the Mongoose, Warthog and Elephant for them to look like boats and we could have an option to allow them to foat on water.

> It sounds fun but it seems unlikely and a bit pointless, Halo is a combat game, not a boat game.

And yet, if they have a few maps that are 50/50 land and water, it would make sense, as well as being fun for forge and customs. If they have the time and space on the disk, I see no reason they couldn’t.

What sort of boats are we thinking of though, battleships, carriers, destroyers or dinghy patrol boats?

> What sort of boats are we thinking of though, battleships, carriers, destroyers or dinghy patrol boats?

I’d imagine boats along the lines of the vehicles we have currently.

If they include a working boat, they will redeem Halo’s failure (or more specifically, Bungie’s) on Longshore.

Nope they have tried to put in a boat since Halo CE it just doesn’t work with current gameplay.

maybe it they add a swimming mechanic to the game but I cant see a half ton soldier doing anything but sinking like a rock.
