While this isn’t my favorite Halo game, I do hate seeing the population so low. I do enjoy playing Halo 4 and ever since DLC required Infinity Slayer, and GTA V we’ve had very low numbers. So with that in mind, will Halo 4 Game of the year Edition change that? Most people own Halo 4 already, but same who have traded it in or whatever may want to buy it for the DLC inclusion. So what do you think? Tell me your population predictions below and thanks for reading.
I hope so. I still haven’t managed to get to SR50 yet.
It’s a bit of an odd question, it’s not something that anyone could really answer and be sure of their answer.
I don’t think it would introduce that many new players, but any amount of players introduced to the game would be great… I honestly think Halo 4 has the second best multiplayer out of the series so far, anything to bring more players to the game would be great.
Anyone who wants to play Halo 4 probably already has Halo 4.
Anyone who wanted to spend extra money on Halo 4 would have already bought the DLC.
The majority of the people who will buy the GotY edition will be the existing players who want all of its bonus content.
You are probably right but I guess it’s good to remain hopeful.
I’ll probably still be around playing. But not as often as last year though.
As along I can still get a decent 8v8 BTB match from time to time when GOTY is released then it’s good IMO.

This^^
I don’t think there’s much 343 can do to defibrillate Halo 4’s population to any great extent, especially with the myriad of big releases this year. Fans of the Halo series are the ones keeping this game alive as I think any attempt to attract/steal new players/playerbases failed and releasing a GOTY won’t compensate for that.
What all does GOTY edition include that I don’t have if I have purchased the following:
Halo (normal edition)
Season pass (first 3 packs) + champions
I have seen the list of the contents on this site and I know google is my friend… but sadly I don’t know what I have b/c I bought everything at once (got game in July).
Thanks (:
The population will most defiantly increase, the question is, by how much. Im expecting about a 8 to 10 thousand player increase at peak times about a week or two after release.

All of the pre-order skins, helmets, and emblems (not including some of the Halo 4 Console Bundle content such as FOTUS) and the Master Chief Avatar Cloak.
Contents are listed here.
If it does it may be temporary, since there will most likely be an exodus once the Xbone launches.

this thread is good (and prefered by mods) for discussing the daily population
https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst183468p81_Daily-Halo-4-Population-Thread.aspx , and this thread gives the daily population count, http://halocharts.com/2013/playlists_halo4.php ,
IMO, by looking at the daily count I predict you might see an increase for one day , then it will slip back down lower then before as it has done in the past
I would expect that people would see the value of the GOTY edition and purchase it then. This might boost the population a little.
But the bad thing is that there are new consoles coming out also so for people that are getting the xbox one, there really is no point in getting a new 360 game.
But time will tell.
I know a few people who are getting it who have never played any of the Halos. That’s just a few though.
TBH, I hope so.

Sad truth. And it’s going to be at least another year before we see Halo 5. An increase in players with DLC wold be awesome, though. If only just to play with the DLC maps for a few weeks.
i purchased the regular Halo 4, and Majestic map pack (which was hard to get any games on). While I would be interested in seeing the new maps I missed out on, I’m just not a fan of the gameplay like I was with previous games and wouldn’t want to support a game/company that I think did not deliver on its overall package. To take it even further, I would even say that I hope it sells next to nil so that the devs can realize that the only reason this game broke records is due to hype of the online community and past Halo fans, not the quality of the game.
No. It won’t increase the population. Who in their right mind is going to buy a game that for the last year has had an absolute and well deserved kicking from its very numerous critics. Fair enough you may pull the curious but as far as I am concerned Halo 4 will still lose population.

That’s a 50% increase in population, which is crazy to expect at this point in the game’s life.
I doubt that the Game of the Year Edition will sell enough to create any noticeable dent in the population. Anybody who wants the game enough to play it online will already have it. I doubt that the GotY Edition will sell much at all.

Holy cow, man. Talk about unrealistic expectations.
