Just a thought, not much of a theory, but it is apparent in the E3 Campaign Trailer that an AI only “lives” for seven years before they deteriorate, and Cortana has been in service for eight. Now, we do know Cortana will become rampant in Halo 4. She may become a minor threat or an enormous obstacle in the game.
However, do you believe she will be “destroyed” by the end of the game, or become an even larger threat throughout the remainder of the trilogy?
No. So long as Master Chief is there, Cortana is going to be there as well. Like the flesh to your bones.
Like how there’s no Shepard without Vakarian, there’s no John-117 without Cortana.
I’d say a lot of the story will be about the Chief and Cortana’s problems - Cortana’s rampancy problem and Chief’s battle to save her.
I doubt they’d abandon a main character like Cortana.
Good observation, and I agree with you too. Cortana will not be going anywhere anytime soon.
They said they want to play out the relationship between both of them in the Trilogy so I assume she will stay until the very end.
I bet they find some Forerunner Machinery that will increase her lifespan or even make something totally different out of her (Monitor?)
She’ll be around for most, if not all, of the new trilogy. I’m sure of it.
I don’t think Chief can survive without Cortana any more.

Good idea on that thought. Perhaps another Composer on Requiem? That would make sense.
the original human AI Cortana… No, a “clone” or “replica” of Cortana using Forerunner AI techonology… Yes
I think the idea of a Cortana “clone” could be very likely.
I hope so… she’s really annoying.
i remember them saying cortana wont go rampant in 4 so i doubt she’ll die or anything.
But if you saw the Halo 4 e3 campaign trailer she says " i will not allow you to leave this planet!!" in a rampant tone so i think it’s possible for Cortana to go Rampant.

Not till post Halo 6 do I predict Cortana disappearing from the scene, and who knows what will happen between now and then to alter that length…
She will deteriorate in the first 30 minutes of the campaign and be replaced with Navi. It will be ocarina of time style. Every other object you walk past, “Hey, Listen!!”. Lol
