I wish it could but it probably won’t. It’s still popular because it’s in the top 20 most played xbox live games on major nelsons blog this month. The only way I see the best halo game become popular is if halo 4 sucks. My only wish is halo 4 is like halo 3 and it’s awesome. Personally halo went downhill after halo 3 odst.
I think there might be a peak in population of Halo 3 before Halo 4 comes out, since there’s always the hype.
Not to mention those like me trying to manage the last few H3 achievements. The downside is its still fun. With H4 coming out, it would be cool if H3 and Reach multiplayer could somehow be consolidated into a single experience. While I do realize they run on different engines and servers, have a central hub to get there would be preferable.

I was playing Halo 3 before and had a population of 13000 (which is still pretty low). I hope there is a spike before Halo 4 but I don’t really think there will be. Bit of a shame really seeing such a great game going downhill like that.
Last time I played it had a population 21,000 and eventually went down to 19,000. It’s not much, but it’s enough.
I’ve always been playing Halo 3 but I plan to ramp it up right before Halo 4 comes out. It might be the last time it’s playable if the population gets any smaller from Halo 4.
I’d like to think there is a dedicated base of players that will always play Halo 3 like I do.

Can you prove it with either Halo 3 or Reach. Trust me, I wish there were a lot more players than there are, but this game is 5 years old now.
