Will H5's story be confusing to the normal fan??

I ask this because to those who did not read the books, from Halo 3 to halo 4 there were HUGE things that anyone who didn’t read the books probably thought 343 just shoved in there (basically the whole plot of the story, ESPECIALLY the didact and the librarian and the composer).

Now what I’m wandering is if the warden eternal (and possibly more characters/things) is one of those characters/things. I mean, is he even in any of the books at all? I can understand about the guardians because they were at least in the games since halo 2.

what do you all think about Halo 4’s campaign in this light and what halo 5’s might be like with this in mind?

nope. they designed it so that the campaign gave you enough information on who’s who and what’s going on so that even new players could pick it up and it make sense.

Most new chars have a brief story you don’t need to read/watch at ‘worst’. Otherwise stuff like the Warden Eternal and the Guardians are 100% new with the game.

I imagine the domain will get some in-universe explanation for chief.

I’m sure it will be.

Even Halo: CE was confusing. Nobody had any idea what the Cole Protocol was, but it was mentioned in the first minute of the game & pretty much the entire story happens because of it.

All the games are full of references nobody will know about unless they read the books, it’s just that 343 went out of their way to force you into the extended universe in order to understand the story.

Eh Keyes pretty much explains the Cole Protocol right after naming it.

If anything is confusing just hit the internet for the answers. When the Didact popped up It was obvious that he was a Forerunner, but if you didn’t know the backstory it could of been an immersion breaking moment.

I think the problem with h4 was more it just felt jarring with how things were if you’d only played the games.

If you only played the games, it seemed like elites were humanity’s friends now and brutes were bad. All halo 4 does to explain this conflict is a "more fanatical than usual’ toss away line, and ‘a lot can happen in 4 years’.

You get the human/forerunner seperation that was only hinted at in h3 terminals if you’d only played the games.

The didact and librarian are just kind of thrown at you, despite all forerunners being seemingly dead before. H4 never explains why the didact survived the rings, you have to make assumptions based on Ghosts of Onyx.

Even if it is […“H5’S STORY BE CONFUSING TO THE NORMAL FAN??”] It’s the kind of risk that you take when jumping into number 5 in a series. Some consideration for newcomers is ideal, but you can’t/shouldn’t always over expose and reiterate everything to catch the uninitiated up to speed. Sometimes they need to hit the ground running and accept certain scenarios for what they are without needing the detailed backstory on the lead-up.

It’s like Netflix originals vs. made for TV shows. Netflix originals don’t usually bother themselves with nearly as much recap within the episode of the previous or over-arching episode plots (this excludes the Previously, on This Show segments) whereas in standard TV shows pretty much every plot element and every detail will be re-stated or re-introduced within every episode so as to spoon feed the viewer.

I think it’s unnecessary. If they want all the details or a more detailed idea of the story, they can find them with relative ease.
