My biggest worry right now with ground pound in halo 5, is the impact that it will have on the more vertical maps. Let’s just say they had a map similar to construct from halo 3, it would be very easy to kill anyone on the lower level just by ground pounding straight down, and the opponent will have no idea what just happened. My suggestion to fix this would be to add a very small indicator on the floor where the person who is using ground pound will land. It should appear right as they start to lunge towards the ground. The reason for this is because on smaller maps, where ground pound should be used, you will not have to lead your ground pound, and the indicator will be practically on top of your opponent, but from longer distances, you will have to lead your ground pound, causing the indicator to appear in front of your opponent. It should be a very slight visual cue, and nothing too obvious.
No intelligent player would ever throw away top map control to chase a single kill…

I agree. Unless for example lets say…someone is stood at the top of a lift and can see directly down to where their opponents enter the lift, they could ground pound all the way down, kill them, and quickly go back up to where they were originally. Risky, but an experienced player could probably abuse that.
As I only got killed 1 time by it in the beta I don’t think it will. Most good players would never give up top control to do it.
If anything it will make getting the high ground all the more important
Whilst playing the BETA I NEVER ever used ground-pound if I was that high anyway id rather maintain the sense of control I have rather than throw it all away in the hopes of getting a quick kill.
I got only a handful of ground pound kills in the beta but what scares me is the montage they showed at HCS where it was 3 minutes of the guy getting Spartan charge kills and ground pounds. If some people are good with it the ground pound is a cheap and easy kill. and you don’t really have to be that high in the air to do it.

I agree with you but if we were beating a team by a lot my team would try and make the final kill a ground pound. Its kind of humorous to see a full team just diving all over the map after one guy.
You cant really call it a cheap 1 hit kill because it has a high chance of failure. You might miss and just cause them to lose their shield leaving you exposed. You have to be very quick before the target gets away and you get a limited time to aim. And aiming leaves you exposed to the enemy. the people who wil use GP effectively are the experienced players.
I’ve gotten a number of ground pound kills, while I personal never (ok maybe one, I can’t recall clearly) got killed by other players using it. It’s a new tool, and once you have it, it’s a valuable weapon. Whether or not to drop height control is a risk vs reward choice, but in many cases that I experienced, I was very able to regain my lost spot, or even went on and didn’t go back. Ground pound is a lethal tool, but only if the time is right.
I wonder how that’ll work in campaign. Will legendary all be ground pounding the enemies, or will it get nerfed at that difficulty and elites can take the pound?
I got two GP kills during the beta, and got killed by it once. It’s an excellent mobility and aggressive tool, but very situational.
I doubt it. The beta clearly illustrated that ground pound is not that easy to pull off. Most attempts missed. Its a situational tool.
Jet-pack or being able to thrust upwards would ruin vertical maps.
Jet-packs specifically have ruined every single map in Reach and 4.

Well it worked fine on Truth which was pretty vertical. I’m not worrying about how it’ll turn out. However I really hope we see a construct remake here soon. I guess if not Halo 5, we will most definitely get it in Halo 3 anniversary in 2017.
GP is a very hard move to pull out. Adding an indicator would ruin it, as soon as you see the marker you thrust away and you know your enemy’s position .
Even if it isn’t obvious, after some matches you will be used to it.
Not only it’s hard to pull of, but you will be at a disadvantage if the other players sees you

What does this have to do with anything, M8?
I don’t think ground pound ruins things. I think it’s well balanced. The higher the range, the harder it is pretty sure anyways.
You’d appear on their radar and they’ve have more than enough time to thrust (or even walk) away.
