Will Forge Maps include screenshots now?

I was wondering if anyone knew if Forge was going to allow us to take a screen shot of the maps we make so we know what map were looking at besisdes just remembering the name.

For example in Halo Reach during the voting screen you would sometimes get 3 different Forge maps all with different names and i often didn’t remember which one was which without repetition. It would be nice to have screenshot capability instead of seeing 1 image of every forge map and playing a guessing game…

Has anyone ran across learning about this?
What are your guys thoughts?

I hope so.

I would certainly hope so too, as this would take the confusion away on deciding what map to play.

In Reach BTB I usually know the map layout, but I only recognise it once I actually spawn into the game, not by name.

EDIT: I think I read somewhere that this will probably not be included in H4, as it complicates the game engine too much (or something along those lines). We can still hope, though.

Same here

I hope that we can choose the thumbnail picture of our forge maps, when waves of community made maps made it onto matchmaking, it was hard to tell what map was what.

I know I’m reviving an older thread here, but how has this concept not gained more momentum?

This has always been one of my gripes with forge: the fact that you cannot include a thumbnail of your map. Especially now, with more and more community maps being thrown into the rotation in War Games, sometimes I like to be reminded of what a map actually looks like so I know what I’m choosing.

When Serenity, Opus, and Bloodthirst pop up for FFA, and they’re all stock pictures of Ravine, it’s a guessing game if you’ve never played them before. Even if you have, sometimes people forget.

It would just be nice to be reminded with a simple thumbnail of the general look of a map to jog my memory. To see the picture and think, “Oh yea, I know that one.”

I agree OP

If these screenshots were viewable in the menu it would open up a whole new world of forging and community sharing. Having the ability to see something potentially beautiful before taking the leap forward in downloading on the fileshare browser would be great. There have been many times were I have looked at something on the browser and haven’t downloaded it only to not know how great it actually is.

This is a must in Halo 5. It is very possible to implement and shouldn’t be a real problem.

6 MONTHS 1 WEEK 2 DAYS

What do you think?

I’ve been asking about this since day 1

LOL

About what?

Day 1 would’ve been nice :stuck_out_tongue: Day 1 of Halo 3 would’ve been even better, but the past is the past.

The OP question! Did you read it?

I did. And that was my answer. (sarcasm)

The thumbnails are stored in the .map files themselves. Sure, it could be possible to do this with a TU, but it’d only happen for Matchmaking maps, and you’d need a TU every time a new map gets added.

So, long story short, it’s not gonna happen.

Of course I read it why else would I be here right now?

Your “answer,” being in the form of both a rhetorical and non-rhetorical question, could be taken differently based on context and the fact that it vaguely addressed the OP’s question(s).

But I digress, I don’t think we will see thumbnails in H4, unfortunately.

Edit: Fixed the quoting.
