This is something I’m a little unsure of, just because we know so little about Infinite’s campaign. From what we’ve seen so far, it seems like the whole Cortana storyline has been swept under the rug in favor of making the Banished the main antagonists. I know that Mr. Staten has said her disappearance plays a major part in creating the story’s mystery, but that doesn’t really imply that she’s going to be a main character in the actual narrative. I almost feels like that suggests that her fate is left for us to find in hidden terminals or something like that. Idk, this is all just me assuming, but I’m still worried about it. I hope 343 is able to pull off a satisfying ending, even though Halo 5’s ‘evil Cortana’ storyline is notoriously controversial.
Will cortana’s story will have a solid resolution? Just let me check the future for a minute … yes, she will have a solid resolution, she will return to the good side and help Master Chief to fight the banished ! Sorry for the spoiler by the way …
Seriously, I understand your concern, I’m concern too, but it’s useless to know what will happen in a game or movie we will discover soon. It’s better to discover history during the game than before the game by trailer or forum.
I’m fairly sure she’ll show up soon with some sort of connection to the Banished. Maybe she led them to Zeta Halo in the first place, but nobody really knows. I understand that people didn’t like Halo 5’s campaign, but Infinite is a direct sequel so it needs to acknowledge how Halo 5 ended.
I mean, the trailer that showed the Weapon makes it pretty clear the game isn’t forgetting about her.
Will it be solid? Who knows.
Nobody knows. Unless you find someone who has leaked information. And even then no one wants to know until we experience it.
My FAITH in 343s story telling is not solid. They have a habit of introducing characters, not building them up, then killing them off. This is not a good way to write a series of anything.
Unfortunately Cortana, despite featuring in 2 games, literally was rebooted twice. Halo 4 she was somewhat endearing, then in Halo 5 she was basically a completely different character, and hardly featured as an antagonist.
Halo Infinite has not sold me on their ability to write and maintain characters at all. Even Master chief didn’t get featured in the 2nd game (Halo 5) appropriately.
In Halo Wars 2. Players experienced, and found out of a new Threat, they were well received and now that they are in Halo Infinite? Not a single word on any of the established characters from Halo Wars 2. This LOOKS LIKE the exact same problem. Why is there a new bad guy? Why is there no showing or mention(There is a mention, but it isn’t solid enough. Seems to me they did another off-screen killing) of Atriox? Where are the other generals and leaders? Why are we not facing off and Defeating Pavium, Voridus or Colony instead of the NEW GUY? The DLC’s could really benefit from having a more structured and tiered presentation (In my opinion). The Looming threat doesn’t really exist Like in Halo 2 or Halo 3, and unless they really tease that the Big Bad boys from Halo Wars 2 are coming, then the player will just kill Escharum and move on.
That being said, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Atriox will be the true big bad at the end. Maybe the Banished won’t even be defeated in Infinite and His Generals will continue on and not just be killed off, to continue the legacy. Maybe 343 will actually respect the characters they created. I certainly hope so.
So maybe.
