Will cortana go rampant and try to activate the rings?
Possible, but not likely. If Cortana were to go beserk because of her rampancy, I would imagine something like this would instead be saved for Halo 6. Oddly enough, Cortana was originally intended to do this in Halo: Combat Evolved’s ending.
I doubt it. Would make for some interesting plot points though.
Not likely
Though it would be an interesting plot addition

I came into this thread predicting that you posted in it
I was right.

I’ve never heard this before, could you provide a source please?
Anyway I’m sure we’ll see her fully rampant in Halo 5 or 6, not in this installment though. Although you should expect some hints towards her rampancy in H4’s campaign.
I don’t see the rings being a threat again. All except for the mislead Covenant weren’t interested in doing that. Especialy since the Flood didn’t want to see this happen I can’t see the “Ancient Evil” wanting it either.

Scroll down to the Production Notes. Second bullet point.
Also OP, I don’t think Cortana is going to be a bad guy in the series.
In a draft of Halo CE & 3s camapaign cortana was going to go crazy with power.

It was mentioned on the bonus disc Legendary Edition of Halo 3. During the developers commentary for Halo: CE, Joseph Staten mentions that Cortana was originaly going to go rampant, betray you, and try and harness the powers of Halo for herself. But Bungie decided that wasn’t a very good idea, and had 343 Guilty Spark betray you instead.
I’m sorry, but I can’t find a video of the developers commentary on YouTube. So you can only take what I say at face value. But as an owner of the Halo 3 Legendary Edition, I can assure you that what I’m saying is true. Halopedia even confirms what I say, with the same give source.
