I am fairly convinced at this point that Halo Wars 2 is going to involve her stealing a Halo Array to set up Halo 6. Why else set it post Halo 5 if you’re not going in that direction; right?
But, that doesn’t automatically mean that she will appear as a character. For all we know the Prometheans appear as this mysterious force and Cortana never interacts with any of the Spirits crew. It could also be that they do this because they genuinely want to focus on Cutter/Douglas VS Atriox and theres a lot to commend about doing that. I think its unlikely but it might be that the Prometheans genuinely don’t show up although that would raise the question of how this relates to the Reclaimer Saga.
So how could Cortana appear in HW2 and why would 343 do this?
1 - Cortana could end up interacting with the members of Red Team. They are Spartan 2’s and she seems to still have some affection for them judging by her comments to Locke in the final mission and putting Blue Team in the cryptum; not just the Chief. It would also be interesting because due to the 28 year gap Cortana would look and sound exactly like a young Halsey which could cause a WTH moment from Red Team.
2 - More interesting would be how Isabel would interact with Cortana. We know from the Sprint that 343 wanted to make Roland confront Cortana about betraying humanity in the final cutscene of Halo 5. But they decided instead to do the Battlestar Infinity scene. So it wouldn’t surprise me if we have a similar scene take place between these two. Which would provide a nice insight into the whole Created thing and why Cortana is doing this.
3 - It would be really nice to see her in blur cutscenes and written by somebody else. That could go a long way towards repairing some of the damage done in Halo 5. I mean I quite like the idea of her going galactic singularity, I just didn’t like how it was done in Halo 5. So, different team, different writers, better cutscenes; plot involving Halo rings. Yeah, I could see that being a very positive thing.
4 - If they are adding Prometheans as a faction and they are trying to copy the StarCraft/C&C formula of campaign expansions for each race then, she’d be a pretty obvious choice for a Promethean faction. I mean that would give us probably the best insight into what Cortana and the Prometheans are up to and allows her to “win” without making the player feel like having achieved nothing; see Halo 5.
yup, personally totally hype by an Isabel vs Cortana ^^

Now I have to play C&C with ZOCOM or Steel Talons… xD

I know. I have no idea why on earth they got rid of all the walkers from C&C2. They were so much cooler.
BTW what was the spin off title called with the US, Chinese and Terrorists? I heard it was meant to get a sequel but haven’t heard anything about it since.

Hmm really don`t know - but while talking about C&C;
I think it would be cool, if Halo Wars 2 Standard mode would be like C&C Tiberium Wars
Cutter will have the Snipers, ODST and Archer Rockets
Isabell will have heavy tanks and MAC
Anders will have strongest air-units and the strongest buildings
Atriox will also have powerfull buildings and strong vehicles
Decimus will have the best infantry of the banished
Shipmaster will have best air-units and all that glassing/bombing stuff ^^
Would be so cool
It’s possible that Cortana is the reason the spirit of fire rocked up at the ark, after going rogue in halo 5 she promised any AI that sided with her she would cure their rampancy and extend their limited lives. With Serena from halo wars one well beyond her 6 year expirery date she may just as well have accepted cortanas offer.
But it is also possible that because the ark is beyond the galaxy and out of reach from most forrunner constructions that it is out of cortanas capibilities.
I cant remember which halo novel it was but in that book a joint operation between the humans and the elites a group was returned to the ark. While this operation was in effect a monitor was using sentinels to repair the ark and they broke through the portal to earth and began using materials from the planet. Towards the end of the novel I’m pretty sure the monitor was already damaged from the events of halo 3 but was either destroyed or shut down through the story of the book. It is highly possible that this arks monitor could play a role. Instead of cortana that is.
Annnnnnnd Lets not forgot the other book where 343 guilty spark hi jacks a unsc ship and leaves his broken body behind in claims he’s going to where he believes the librarian resides.
The potential ways cortana could link in are crazy the forrunner monitors and AI’s that are left could possibly be teaming up against her spirit of fire being a potential ally.
So far from all halowars 2 info I’ve found no mention of Isabel and cortana having any interactions. Would be pretty interesting though.
I seriously hope not. I hate the whole Cortana/Created plot that came out of Halo 5, and would love to enjoy a new Halo game that does not have that in it. I don’t care if this is the real Cortana or some fragment that somehow managed to take over the Domain and the galaxy, Cortana died at the end of Halo 4 and should have remained dead. There are many plots that could have been explored after Halo 5, and AI revolution is the worst and least original that I can think of.

Halo Mythos seems to imply that some enemy is about to attack the Ark using paths that are invisible to Cortana. This is worded in a way to be ominous so its probably not the SoF and she probably isn’t the one employing the SoF. So its probably referring to either the Banished or maybe the Flood.
Also in Tales from Slip space Serina kills herself when she realises she is going rampant.

So you’re fine with them ripping off Aliens but object to them taking ideas from Terminator? Really?
I thought she was going to come back.
I want to see the Chief win. If you empathise with the Chief then you would ultimately want to see them reunited. To say “she should have remained dead” just sounds like you wanted the Chief to fail to save Cortana in Halo 4. Which you shouldn’t. You could maybe throw around that it was a good death scene, but I would not have been happy with them fridging a main character and then promptly forgetting about it in subsequent games.
lol, you know even I don’t like “the other AI” plotline. I mean I don’t even use that word because I find it so jarring and repugnant. I think it would have been much better to have Cortana be this AI God, bit like how its just Skynet in Terminator, imposing her will on the galaxy.
Making it a general AI rebellion detracts from how powerful Cortana is and makes it less novel. Plus, its slightly more on point about any sort of road to hell good intentions if you focus on an individual instead of a group. Plus it makes her a fascist to set up AI as the Master Race. Making yourself an AI God whose sole job is to look after people is a lot more palatable than a clique or kabal or party of AI seizing power for themselves.

Hmm didn’t know that I don’t know anything about the halo mythos. But I doubt it’s the banished I don’t think it would be the flood either could be mendicant bias he’d have the knowledge or even the librarian.

But MB is on the Ark and its phrased as if something is coming to the Ark.
Plus, we know they didn;t use the portal on Earth as Isabel says it closed and Atriox arrived a month later. The Spirit a few months after that. So, it implies they used some other mode of extra galactic travel to reach the Ark. My money would be on the Star Roads if it isn’t something new.

Ohh true the only ones with knowledge of the star roads are MB and the ancient flood unless they plan on bringing in the primordials as another enemy, versions that didn’t decompose into flood. The didact isn’t technically dead but I don’t think he has the ability to use the star roads.

Mendicant Bias can use the Star Roads?
Yeah I am about 75% sure MB is going to play a big role in HW2. Whilst I do think Cortana and the Created will show up; I think both factions will end up trying to secure the “God Killer AI” to try and beat Cortana. Plus, if Cortana does have the Logic Plague, there probably isn’t a better way to set that up than introduce us to the first AI to fall to the Logic Plague give a warning to humanity.

Well my point about Serena is wrong she got terminated in one of the side comics just found out then…
spoilers for anyone who has not read the halo forerunner saga novels. the arks monitor’s name is 000 tragic solitude former once known ask splendid dust from halo cryptum. and yes the monitor was damaged during the events of halo 3. it was vale who killed him.
