Playing through campaign does unlock things in mp, like cosmetics etc, not entirely sure if it get’s counted towards battle pass or not though

My friend, you cannot imagine how far the number of players that we focus exclusively on the campaign goes.
Responding to the OP, hopefully there will be unique challenges to the campaign moving forward in the battle pass. At the end of the day, both parties will be treated as differentiated games, multiplayer on the one hand and campaign on the other, it would not seem unreasonable to see challenges that only appear in the campaign and serve to advance in the battle pass, without affecting the multiplayer challenges .

Unlike most FPS communities, half of Halo players are more interested by Campaign than PvP.

Indeed. I’m a player who spends at a lot of time in the campaign, so I’d like to think I would be rewarded for my time there.
I figured the bigger complaint would be from the F2P Miltiplayer-only crowd, who would complain of having challenges taken up by activities locked behind another paywall.
Personally I think the best way to go about it, would be to tie XP payouts for certain campaign activities that get added to your battle pass.
For instance, liberating a squad of marines could award you 10XP, and taking out a base like in the trailer could be 100XP.

Agreed.
We don’t know how often we’ll be running into these sorts activities in the campaign, or how easily it would be to navigate the save functions to load up again for potential farming.
It would have to be tuned based on the average XP per hour achieved in PvP.
But yeah, multipliers for difficulty level would be great too, maybe even skulls.
They way i had it understood, the battle pass is mm specific. But there are campaign specific unlocks

As a campaign only player, I sure damn hope that’s how it work! It would be ridiculous if campaign players were forced to play MP to get any new armors.
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Battle Pass can only progress through multiplayer. The name of the game these days is “player retention”, behind-the-scenes metrics, and in-game store sales.

Campaign will have no affect on your battle pass. Yet another reason why not having an EXP progression system at launch is a colossal failure. However, you will be able to unlock cosmetics for MP by achieving things in campaign. I still don’t know how you can look back at Halo Reach and see how the credit/challenge system not only encouraged players to play the entire game to its fullest but also reward them for it and then just abandon that system for a decade.
