This isn’t them saying H2A isnt a thing, just that Certain Affinity isn’t working on H2A.
Fairly certain (juding by the timeline), they were starting work on HW2.
I’m pretty excited as to what it would be. My guess is it’s going to be Halo 5’s last content drop or a teaser for Halo wars 2’s new campaign missions. I just won’t get my hopes too high though.

They said that before E3. The lack of any Halo announcements at E3 with the primary focus on Halo Wars 2 basically confirms that there will be any major Halo releases this year.
When Halo 2 Anniversry released, only a few people said that it won’t happen and there was various hints towards it throughout the year (specifically from Major Nelson). In terms of Halo 3 there has been no leaks, hints or announcements at all suggesting that H3:A is happening. In fact Halo 3 Anniversary is and has always been purely speculation built off the hopes of fans. Halo 3A has also been denied by dozens of Xbox officials varying from the unreliable franky, to Major Nelson, to our favourite community Manager ske7ch, our ex-community manager Barvo, the head of 343 and even the head of Xbox.
Halo 3 Anniversary, or any major Halo release is not happening anytime soon. It seems most likely that we will have more info on the HW2 operation this week, and if we are really lucky, the new flood DLC.

They did mention that before Awakening the Nightmare comes out we’re going to have some campaign missions focused on something called Operation: SWORDBREAKER…
I’m gonna go out on a limb here ans say it has something to do with Halo Wars 2. It could either be those other two missions with the ODST leader that’s been talked about or it could be that one leader in August who is theorized to be a Grunt. Either way, I don’t think it’s H3A. The previous claims called for no production completely, not “no reveal at E3”. Considering that so far this claim has been true, I think it’s safe to say that it will still be come RTX.
