Will anyone else miss the classic halo?

To me it’s a real dissapointment in which the way the halo series has been taken. Everyone says it needed to change. Really? I thought halo was awesome the way it was. A game that took teamwork, map control, weapon control, actual individual skill, strategy and more.
Who asked for all of this nonsense to be thrown into these new halo games? People who couldn’t spend the time to get better at the first 3 perhaps? There is way to much being put into this new game. Look at what reach accomplished, a lot of pissed off people who didn’t understand what the reason for such a huge change was. This whole idea that we need to change the game so drastically is stupid. So come on everyone, don’t have an opinion, just jump on the trend ship and copy what everyone else say such as “It needs to change or no one will buy it” hahahaha. I’m not buying this game because why would I? So i can play reach 2? I feel the need to start going to school to create games and make a game that is like oldschool halo or the orginal goldeneye for n64, one that took skill and you could play for a day straight without getting bored. WHERE ARE ALL THE OTHER GAME COMPANYS THAT WILL BRING BACK GOOD GAMES?!

Classic playlists, good sir.

classic halo is still in

I won’t be missing the classic Halo because I’ll be playing it on the classic playlists. If Halo 4-style MM doesn’t catch on then I’m sure 343i will return more of the new playlists to the old style. If the “new” halo is fun and really catches on then there won’t be much worth missing from “old” halo.

I played 3 hours of Halo Anniversary last night with my bro. After Halo 4 comes out, I’ll still play the old Halo games. Classic Halo is only gone if you let it go yourself.

The first Halo was called “Halo: Combat Evolved.”

In my opinion, Halo is meant to be evolved as the years pass. Classic Halo will always be that: classic.

I love when people call Halo 3 ‘classic.’ Maybe it’s just cause I’ve been around since the beginning but true classic to me is CE.

No, because my Halo CEA, original CE, 2, and 3 still exist.

I WANT to miss classic Halo but people refuse to let it go and die peacefully. Halo needs to evolve but the more people try to resurrect “classic halo” the more it becomes a Frankenstein-ish monstrosity that nobody enjoys.

Let Classic Halo be Classic Halo and Halo 4 be Halo 4

jumps on trend ship

it needs to change or no one will buy it. /sarcasim

OP, have you ever considered that you can just play in the classic playlist, instead of trying to take the new stuff away from all the people that want it?

Its a new game produced by a new developer. Change was inevitable. They’re not gonna look on the forums last minute and decide to halt production and make Halo 4 the Halo 3 clone that a few people wanted it to be. I don’t see what the big deal is anyway. From those who have played it I’ve heard it plays like Halo 3 with improved Reach features which to me sound pretty freaking awesome. Sure we got some bonus stuff like support packages and custome loadouts but they have the potential to refresh the franchise.

Honestly if Halo 4 played exactly like Halo 3 I would be extremely dissapointed in 343 and I’d just rent the game for the Campaign.

You want Halo to stagnate and stay the same? Then all the CoD feature complaints will be null because if Halo stops changing then its become as hopeless as CoD has and then my favorite franchise will become dull to me.

If theres ever a moment when I want some classic Halo I’ll just play Halo 3 customs with friends for some laughs and to relive the old times but I won’t do that very often I imagine because Halo 4 looks far superior to Reach in every single aspect so I shouldn’t get tired of it. I never want to see 343 directly clone a game from the OG trilogy because if they do that then they have failed in my eyes as game developers.

Since your new here take the time to read the various bulletins so you have a hint as to what 343 is doing. You’ll have your classic playlist. Why the hell do people who are new come here and bash Halo without reading any of the bulletins sigh This community sometimes…

Oh and I forgot to point out, if I want to take a break from the AA’s. I can just pick the “none” option. Or have you not watched any PAX PRIME videos?

I’ll miss it being front and center–the main event, but I’ll be playing the classic playlist, so…I guess not?

I would love for ranked to be classic and social to have all the gimmicks and shiney crap. But that’s just me.

I have to agree with this. The classic playlist in Reach felt out of place because the game itself was meant to focus on the new adaptations. The best I can describe it is this:

It’s like if you remade your favorite map in Forge, but with the new tools given to you, new outlook, and different palette, it just doesnt have the same feel.

Do I miss it? Not really, since I have all the games, I can just plug those in and play.

On the note of change: yes, Halo did need to change, because it’s a mainstream gaming title. If it were to stay the same, less people would be attracted to it, sales would drop, and Halo would cease to exist. It’s the sad truth of the current gaming industry.

No i won’t be missing classic halo. It has been said many times that there will be a classic playlist. And have you played halo 4 to say what is in the game is nonsense. I’m sure you haven’t and just joining the bandwagon that is seen on the forums a lot. Sure you can be skeptical about the game but at least wait till you played it yourself. Complaining about something you clearly know nothing about is just pointless.

Well what would you do OP to keep the game fresh and exciting? I honestly don’t feel like playing the same game over and over again with updated graphics and new guns.

I enjoy change, and encourage it. Halo is going in a good direction. I think people forget sometimes that the people at 343i are Halo’s biggest fans, considering they’re spending their working lives creating Halo, and I know that they are putting a ton of care into this game so that it feels like Halo
