Will all the cinematics look like that?

We got to see the opening cinematic with Osiris kicking so much -Yoink- in an amazing cutscene. Frankie did say on NeoGaf there is a scene that comes before this one, prologue most likely. Josh also thanked Axis on twitter for their collaborative work. My question is are all the cinematics going to look like that? Because my God that looked amazing and hope they look like that if not then that’s cool. Do you think all the cinematics will look like that?

Most likely and i hope so.

No they won’t look like that, that was basically CG in the words of framkie on Neogaf and the majority will be in engine

Based on Halo 4, prologue and epilogue, but it would be nice if they were all like that.

This. Frankie already confirmed that this cinematic was CG, and the rest are all in-engine.

the begining before they jump off is in engine the rest cg

Yes and No.

What you saw was in-game assets, they were just enhanced with some post-production fanciness and pre-rendered.

Here: WATCH THIS. It’s a breakdown of the cinematic. It also shows a side-by-side of the opening cinematic of Reach that was released prior to the games release and then what was in the actual game. It’s all the same assets, just the pre-rendered one looks super fancy. So it will be in the game, but probably not as polished.

Although, this gen, it may not be that much of a difference.

But why make a video of the opening scene when it’s just over a month away?

The art department is probably bored as all hell, since their job has been pretty much done for months.

hype?

Halo 4 did the same thing, CG intro, CG outro. I prefer In-Game

I heard Frankie said on NeoGaf that there is a scene that comes before this one. I imagine that is the prologue an this is before the first mission. I wonder if there’s CG thrown in with the in-engine assets. In this article on Xbox Wire, while they mention it also mentions members of 343 such as cinematic director.

Wrong, I’m afraid. That cutscene was using the in-game engine with some assets, not CG.

Surely this does not mean that in the halo 5 the cutscene is also toned down like they did in Reach? I don’t see any reason to it since halo 4 also had pre-rendered first cutscene. Unless it is not first cutscene as some people here suggest.

I think some people are saying that only the beginning was in engine, and after the title it was CG. I have not seen confirmation on this, but a few people have been saying this. Not sure if its a guess or if Frankie confirmed it already. If so, please link people. I believe frankie described the cutscene as using “engine assets”

Was it that everything before the title screen is in engine and then the action is where the CG is?

Since this is a new console, we can’t necessarily say that even if this was CG, it won’t be like that for the final game. Maybe they will include all scenes pre rendered as video files in the game… They have blu-ray discs now, space isn’t as much of a concern as before…

Saw this post by Frankie saying it’s using in-engine models but not in-game. He continues and says they used post production to polish it up and Xbox Wire said 343 worked with Axis on it. Maybe 343 made the cinematics during production then in post they along with Axis are going to make the cinematics look like this.

It’s all in-engine. Well, technically, it’s all literally Computer Generated, but not the kind you’re thinking of.

It’s a cutscene using all in-engine assets and graphics, then it’s pre-rendered like a movie, and enhanced visually. Haven’t you ever seen machinima where people record Halo gameplay then go into some film editing solfware and polish the crap out of it? It means if this is in the game as it is, than the game is not rendering these assets and effects and such individually, but is essentially just playing a movie that was made using the same assets with a bit of spit-shine on it. It frees the console’s processes up and just lets it play a video file. I’m sure if the Xbox One were to try to handle that in real time all 100% in-engine, it’d probably explode.

I mean, that’s how I understand it to work … could be a lot more to it than my layman’s understanding.

Ah, makes sense. Do you think 343 and Axis did this to all the cinematics? So hoping they do 'cause my God that intro…
